Default steps on blow drying your hair

I have 4b hair...well, 4c if it exists, washing my hair and letting it air dry is not for me. It's always extremely dry, hard, tangled, and it just doesn't look like what it's supposed to...So I blow dry it instead. BUT that doesn't really work either because somehow I don't blow dry it good enough, or something, because I can't comb through it, and the next day it's only worse.
What do you girls do when blow drying your hair? Or how do you get defined, non-tangled, moisturized curls, when you let it air dry?

These ate my steps:
Wash
Detangle while WET and then section, apply grapseed oil as a heat protectant and blow dry in sections. I use a blow dryer with a comb attachment and get the beat results, after I blow dry, I usually braid or twist, wrap with my scarf or Bonnet and untwisted in the morning.

I can't answer the blowdrying question as haven't blowdried my hair in years, however, I also can't let my hair dry loose. To air dry, I detangle with my rinse out (in 4 sections, which I put into 4 braids), rinse my hair in those braids, apply my leave in and put my hair in fat twists or braids. Now that my hair is longer I can get away with fewer braids- maybe 2 or 3 per section, but when it was short I had to do at least 16. When it dries then I go ahead and style. This way it doesn't shrink up, dry out and tangle as it dries.
