Default 4a in need of serious help!!!

I recently did the BC June 25, 2011. I cannot achieve 2nd day hair by any means. I tried pineappling and that didn't work. My hair stayed mashed against head and the curls are gone. My hair is one hot frizzy mess. After my hair dries I have several areas of frizziness. I DC 1-2 times a week. The frizziness feels hard no matter what type of LI I use. I feel like giving up. Plz advise!

Hi! Don't give up, but to help you, I think more information is needed. What is your routine like? What products are you using? Is your hair porous, or protein sensitive? How do you do your daily maintenance? IMO, certain products work well together, and others are totally incompatible. What I do for smashed hair is add a hair moisturizer (oyin hair dew, DB Peach Kernel Hair milk, Shea moisture curl milk, oyin shine + define, KBB sweet ambrosia) before I shower (I scrunch it in and kinda pull my hair out) then put on a shower cap and let the steam work. Usually that revives the shape a bit. When I am done with the shower, I put abt 5-10 drops of castor oil on my palms, rub together, and work it through my hair. I also like the Shea Moisture hold and shine spray (i think) with the peach label for a mist. HTH

For the past week I've been cowashing with trader joes nourish spa and I also use it as a LI. After I would funger comb AG recoil then CJ CIB or Curl Keeper. That left me with a semi curly afro which i didnt like. My hair would get hard when it dried and I would try to scrunch out the crunch with coconut oil. Only helped a little. At night I would moisturize with JC LI and the next morning smushed hair that I could not revive. Today trader joes LI then I used Eco styler. Curls are more defined today but I also separated each curl which I had never done previously. My hair is hard but I'm afraid to scrunch it cuz I may interupt the curls. I thought my hair was porous but I'm not so sure. And I dont know if I'm protein sensitive.
I've tried:
KCCC
AG recoil
Curl Keeper
CJ CIB
Eco styler
Deva curl (entire line) same results as above.

I want soft defined curls. Every thing makes my hair hard. If I knew how to upload pics I would. I'm new to all of this. I want to remain natural. Let me know if more info is needed.

My hair is course and hard, even when moisturized. I use KCKT mixed with a lil bit of koils by Nature's Shealoe leave in.
The only product that has left me with defined, soft (as soft as my hair gets) hold is uncle funky's daughter curly magic.

Btw, I have course, non porous hair, kinky, and dense. I use deva curl no-poo shampoo weekly. I then dc for 15-20 mins with (coconut milk, a cone free condish, a tbsp of honey, a tbsp of jojoba oil). I then place LI, and styling product.

I really don't mind crunch cause I can scrunch some of it out. I just want 3 day hair.

Has anyone tried SM curl enhancing smoothie? I think that's the name. Or the new JC styling gel? It's $34.

The Shea Moisture smoothie doesn't have hold. If anything it just adds moisture to already defined curls. You can use it with a light gel on top, though.

After using KCCC I use African shea butter pure and raw to soften my hair after its completely dry. Shea moisture doesn't do a thing for me except give me hold and definition and only for maybe half a day. I've used the milk and smothie. I have 3c/4a and my hair sops up everything!

I have a video on my nighttime routine after styling my hair. I get 3-4 day hair with this routine. The key for me was finding the right products and using them according to my hair needs, then finding the right technique, lol. I learned this technique from Africanexport, so check out her videos as well.

Here is my vid:

Thank you everyone. I was able to get second day hair only after I separated each curl. Let's see if I can get three day hair. I'll review again AE's YT video.
