Fine Hair Protection

How do you fine haired curlies protect you hair from damage while wearing twists or braid extensions?

(Recently, I experienced a lot of breakage from my twists. Thank God my edges were safe and I retained some length-5-5.5 in when stretched.)

I don't know, but maybe making sure that your hair is strong or healthy enough for extensions should be key. Also doing protective styles with your extensions might help as well. Like wearing them up in a bun.HTH
How did ypu get damage, by the way? That might help in getting some answer.

Well my mom couldn't afford to get my twists redone so we just left them in for three months. I realize now that was a bad idea. My hair started to lock up and when I was taking them out my hair was so tangled. I didn't know about this site when I took my twists out so I wasnt exactly gentle. The damage isn't that noticable but I'm wondering if I should just chop all my hair off again.
I would not cut your hair all off if it's not that bad. After three months you could probably use a light trim anyway. How were you keeping you hair moisturized and conditioned duing those months? That could have more to do with your breakage than having fine hair. My hair is fine and I don't have a problem with twists or braid but then I don't leave them in more than three or four days.
