What are some good tips or advice for doing roller sets?

I'm thinking of wearing my hair straight for a while. regardless, I want to straighten it on my own then go to the hair cuttery and get a trim by the stylist my mom trusts.

Anyway a friend of mine always used roller sets to get her hair straight. I've watched a few videos for it as well, and even though it might not be less heat (I'm going to run a flat iron over it lightly after wrapping, maybe) it's not the harsh manipulation+heat that comes with blow drying. I hate all that pulling on my hair while heat is blasting on it.

Anyway, what tips do you all have?

What product is best? I'm thinking of the setting product (Wrap and Roll) from the Jane Carter Solution line.

Mahogany curls had a tutorial on her blog. I can't link it since I'm on my phone, but try and search her blog. It was also a post on curly nikkin so you might look there too.
