Can we add oil to our gels?

Hey ladies and gents! It's been forever since I've been here, but I needed to consult the experts. I'm going to college in about a month and I'm looking to stock up on inexpensive products that work well for me. I'd love to find a hair butter that works, but most of them coat my fine strands WAY too much
I've tried everything from DevaCurl products (meh, price was outrageous) to Ecostyler (love love loved aside from a bit of crunchiness, my best option for price), even KCCC didn't really agree with my hair (made it hard as a rock!). So I'm wondering if I can make my own curly butter/cream/jelly/potion/miracle by adding oil into my gel while it's in the jar.

Any success with this? I'd love to just use my HG condish and then just use an all-in-one product.

Thanks!

I've added oil & conditioner to my gel. It came out fine. Reduced crunchiness & helped keep in moisture.
My daughter adds Hairveda's Cocasta Oil to Ecostyler's Argan Oil Gel and she loves it. I have tried it several times and its very good. I would use it more often if I were a gel person. Try doing a search for the ecocustard recipe and modify for your needs.

I'll try this , have to use up the ecostyler olive oil because the crunch is ridiculous
Thank you so much! I'll have to try this out. Currently I'm stuck with some LA Looks gel that i'm not liking too much . I might try adding a ton of oil to that and see what happens lol.

I have to do that when I use EcoStyler Olive Oil. I add some Tresemme Naturals and then some castor oil. Works pretty well, still a bit hard, but isn't as drying as it normally is.

Added castor oil to mine , it turned creamy. Fingers crossed it works
I added plenty of olive oil to the remaining LA Looks Wet Look gel I had (I hate it but I'm trying to use everything up before I go to college so I don't leave my parents with a bunch of hair products). It came out much better than it normally does. The oil added some slip and tons of sheen for my hair. Normally the gel seems to mattify my hair- like it looks kinda shiny but it becomes harder to get through, even though it's wet. The oil definitely helped with that.

I'll be converting back to ecostyler when I finish up my little 2 cups of this concotion. I'm definitely gonna try it with a strong hold ecostyler, I may even add in some castor oil. My hair loves oils so this has become my perfect solution. Thanks y'all

I added about 2 tablespoons of castor oil to ecostyler olive oil small jar , it made the feel even more tacky but came out with a lot less crunch and hair is more shiny .

Thank you guys , I will start adding oils to my blue éco too just for that silky shine I got today
