If you workout and sweat heavily...

Hi to all - I'm new to the boards but have been natural for approx. 6 1/2 years. I have started a boot camp that is pretty intense. I sweat HEAVILY - meaning I can wring the sweat out of my head/sweat band.

For anyone else who sweats heavily while working out, how do you wear your hair? I'm getting tired of my WnG. I've tried twist outs but it was too much maintenance - I had to re-twist every night b/c my roots would be so frizzy from the sweat it would look a mess if I didn't.

I've thought about kinky twist or braids, but again, I would need to weekly (at least) rinse the sweat out b/c I don't want smelly, damaged hair. I'm not sure how the hairstyle would hold up to frequent rinsing and frankly, it costs too much money to get my hair re-braided once a month.

Just wondering if Iím going to forever be the WnG girl since I donít want my hair to prevent me from working out how I like to.

Any advise would be appreciated - thanks in advance.
Have you tried WnG while your hair is secured in a bun (or multiple if your hair is shorter)? Basicially rinsing sweat out of your hair (not cowashing) w/o having to detangle, etc. Naptural85 on Youtube has a Lazy Day Wash and Go "Natural Hair" that I was able to try on my hair after working out and it does work.

By the way, I cowash my hair about ever 3-4 days and shampoo once a week. I could never go a week(?) without washing.

I always co-wash every other day and style using knot today & KCCC or As I Am Naturally products. I was saying if I got braids or kinky twists professionally I'd have to rinse and risk frizz and then have them done over once a month or so to keep them looking fresh. The way I sweat and b/c I like my hair to look a certain way I need to co wash or rinse a few times a week. I'm just getting a little tired of the WnG look but nothing holds up to the sweat better. Thanks for your response!

When I had a TWA I would just cowash after every workout and wear my wash and go, but my hair is too long for that now. Currently, I wear my hair in box braids (without extensions) and I just rinse or cowash after a sweaty workout. I have also done this with twists with or without extensions and box braids with extensions. I find that I have less frizz if I braid my braids or twists in large sections before I wash them. I have also experimented with having my braids or twists dry in large cornrows (but this usually works best with my real hair, because the extensions take longer to dry this way). It may help if you learn to put in your own extensions so that you can redo the edges every couple of weeks.

I work out 5 days a week and I found that if I twist my hair up while wet and let it totally dry I end up with a tighter and more defined twist out. When I workout my hair is loosely clipped up out of the way. I don't take the clips down until my hair is 85-90% dry then I will lightly spray my scalp with Njoi's herbal spray or water and put a hair scarf on. This way my roots don't get nearly as puffy.
I'm lazy and wng's everyday or so is too much for me.
