Starting to get discouraged...Ill never perm again but I need a life jacket..
So... I love being natural... its one of the best choices I could have made for myself as well as my health...
...So I didnt Big Chop... I called myself going to transition and every month got a little more scissor happy... I am in my seventh month of being natural and cut the last of the permed bits off which felt amazing. So I believe that after years of neglect some parts of my hair are growing in straight... which is a bit depressing but understandable and just means I have to take even greater care with my locks.
The straight hair is only in a few patches though and try as I might my hair REFUSES to curl. I literally CANT do a wash-n-go. My hair laughs at any products I use, o sure if I sit there and painstakingly play with a portion of my hair itll curl up but then it does some creepy stuff. Ive tried gel, mousse, different oils ( I havent tried custards yet because Im a broke college student in an unpaid internship for the summer LOL and 20 bucks for product is way out of my range at the moment) Ive tried forming in the shower.. after.. spritzing and forming...and the worse by far learning experience was naturally air drying...Im not even going to go into how bad that turned out... and a side note while i wrap up this booklet is that in the front I dont have curls, which my mother confirmed for me when I was a baby, I have these waves, slightly loose actually and baby corkscrews at my temples and nape.. and some kind of confusion at my crown ( where some of the damage is ) .. so * lets out a big breath*.. any suggestions ladies?

I think thoses sections must be heat damage or something because even if you neglect your hair that won't change the way ot grows in. Sooo maybe you just really have straight hair in those sections. Many people don't like wash n gos anyway because of the tangling it can cause. Try twist outs, braid outs , flat twists outs, twist n curls, bantu knot outs. There are a lot of things you can still do with your hair. Just look these things up on youtube to find out

Did you heat style your new growth?

I had the same problem because I was dying and flat ironing my hair constantly while I was transitioning. I did twist outs with rods on the end and bantu knots with twists mostly. Protein treatments made the straight pieces wave up a bit, but they dried straight. Wngs weren't really possible unless I did a puff and concealed my ends. I got tired of it and cut my hair again 10 months after my first bc.
If you don't want to do a cut, try the rods for awhile and gradually trim your hair.

Yep...that's what happens. A friend of mine did that, and had to transition all over again, after 1.5 years of transitioning out of a relaxer.

And there's a possibility that hair is naturally doesn't curl. I'm mostly 4a/3c but I got some 1,2, and, 3b mixed in there. It's damn annoying. I have to pack on the product and finger curl to get it to look right cause they hang down farther.

well Ive done my research and there is a thing called scab hair where the hair follicle has been so traumatized it takes a while for your natural curl pattern to grow in.. which is true because those are the areas that got the most perm, or had scabs after a fresh perm. They are getting better slowly I think but I know it takes time.My ex roomie who is a natural of 2 years told me her hair did that too when she first went natural.. I do twist outs and all that but it would be nice to have my OWN curls you know? and youtube has been my best friend.. but I dont see videos of people going through the same frustrations as me so I decided to turn to you ladies

Im thinking thats what Im going to have to do too... Ive actually never dyed my hair even though I always wanted to and I havenet straightened my hair.. like... ever.. since I went natural.. thats why im getting the discouraged feeling.... I stumbled on a process.. two strand twists and putting them in rollers each night.. but its still a little disheartening.. especially when I have random spots of gorgeous curlies andddddd.. they wont stay put... mixed in with the other randomness...

I thought I'd transition for another year, but the styling time was frustrating. Plus I got a bit scissor happy one day. Love it now though.
