First Impression of the Yam Nectar.

NO NO NO NO NO NO HELL TO THE MUTHA EFFIN NO! The YAM Nectar jacked my hair up! It was not from over moisture. It was not from lack of protein, I even had protein in my hair all week. I applied in 4 sections, sat under my steamer for the 20 mins as stated, followed the instructions to the T, rinsed it out. HOT ARZZE MESS. My hair looked like Shaka Zulu's momma and Don King had a baby. Dry, brittle, mess. As my hair dried I got breakage and felt like straw city. Had to hop my butt back in the shower IMMEDIATLEY, did not pass go, did not collect $200, I went straight to the shower, detox with Terressentials twice, KBB Luscious Locks it up, then bust out my Curl Junkie for MOISTURE.

Then with the QB shortage I had to drive to Beverly Hills to get my healer, my QB Heavy Cream, and now gonna have to baggy for a good 2-3 days.

My thoughts in the item that assassinated my hair: the Yucca. My hair has acted weird with Yucca before but I thought it was the biotin from other products, but now after looking over all the ingredients and comparing the Yam nectar to it, it's the Yucca that did me in.

First Impressions of the Tapioca

It's decent. Love the smell. Still playing around with it. So far it's nice.

Now I have to wait for my hair to recover before I can really play in any of my other goodies.

My final verdict is that it is ok. I used it again and though it wasn't too soft, I didn't find anything spectacular about it for my hair. There seems to be a little bit of dry after touch with somehow. Like it's shiny and soft feeling, but still dry... doesn't make sense.

I would be interested in its results in the summer. I am going to shelf until then.

I can see me easily using this as a refresher, moisturizer on my hair every night before bed.

I will be stacking up on this for sure
The "Nectarine Vanilla" is awesome too. It smells like butter, vanilla and fruit.

Rashida has NO idea what's coming at her, at the WNHS. I'm so glad she's participating.

The NV is my current lover child. It smells like peaches and cream to me, just mouth watering. It's awesome as a leave-in and refresher. As a regular condish? Not so much, but I honestly wasn't expecting it to be b/c it's def a milk, but wanted to try it b/c it was in the description. I ordered another bottle before the sale was over and I am itching to smell the lemon beignet scent so I got her Whipped Custard too. If I like the smell I may also get the Condensed Custard when it comes out. I mean, 'cause I'm not addicted to body products or anything like that...

The NV is the best scent ever, I find myself just smelling it for the hell of it. The Silk and Honey Latte so far is moisturizing on dry hair but I'm wondering how it will hold on damp hair with a heavy sealing butter. I've been using it to moisturize my raggedy braids and sealing with QB AHTB and so far its been great BUT I'm still curious.

I got a sample of the hair milk even though the little bottle says it is the whipped butter, but its too loose to be that. OMG the smell is insane I think it is Cucumber Melon. I actually thought about buying the hair milk but I have a ton of milks/liquid leave ins at home (Shea Moisture, CJ Smoothing Lotion, As I Am...) but whoa. Next time they have a sale I want some of this. Hck I might not even wait for a sale.

Have you considered trying the YAM after you have DCed with moisture? I know its an extra step, but I think you may see a difference. Because of the number of oils, it may act as a sealer.

But of course if yucca is the culprit for you, it may not be worth a try.

IMHO, there is no way the Y.A.M. can be a sealer. Although it does have oils, it is very high in humectants (honey/glycerin/panthenol) and these would counteract any sealing properties.

It could be the yucca, and some people also have issues with using honey.

Gotcha. But overall, I don't think YAM is something that can be used to totally take the place of a DC.

Last wknd I started with YAM and ended with the Cacao. This wknd I'm going to use it the other way around.

I can agree with that. From my experience, I can use the Y.A.M. as my sole DC, but I wouldn't use it as my only DC (as in, I wouldn't use it all the time and would rotate it).

However...I dunno...I was thinking that the ingredients wouldn't be enough to use as your DC all the time, but looking at the list, it does has some pretty good stuff in there. And has BTMS/CA, which are adequate conditioners. But of course, everyone's hair has different needs, so I can see people needing more conditioning ingredients higher on the list.

Of course it can...that's what it is. It may not work for everybody, obviously. I use it as a DC, and it's stellar...for MY hair.

**Patiently awaits the release of the Condensed Custard**

I've loved everything I've gotten from B.A.S.K. so far. The Whipped Custard and Cacao are both lovely - however, I'm not sure I would buy the conditioners (Cacao or Y.A.M.) again ONLY because they are quite expensive and I would not dry DC with them and use too much product (and for obvious reasons with the Y.A.M.).
