Im newly natural and I feel like I cant keep my self from conditioning and detangling in the shower every day because I feel like my hair will turn into the ultimate frizzball if i dont...

Not at all, that's what I do. The only reason you wouldn't is if you're going for day 2 hair

I personally wouldn't do this to MY hair because as prettyhxc said, detangling my hair takes too much time, and there are other things I would much rather be doing. Also my hair thrives on low manipulation and being left alone, so I tend to wash, detangle, style once a week, and leave it alone for the rest of the week. But if it works for you, then it works for you, and there's nothing wrong with that!

I don't think there is a right or wrong answer to this but...
I only use a comb to detangle once a week but I condition my hair mid week and lightly finger detangle instead to reduce the manipulation .
Your hair sheds everyday anyway but it might be a problem in the long run because of the mechanical damage e.g combs , brushes can potentially cause
But if you don't notice adverse effects .... Then its ok

If you are losing excessive amounts of hair I wouldn't. I find that my hair does better if I wash, co-wash or rinse and detangle no more than twice a week. I have mid back length 3c 4a thick hair and I don't want to manipulate it too much.

Seems like that's a lot of unnecessary manipulation your hair doesn't need. I can see detangling 1-2X a week but not everyday, especially If your a new natural. Low manipulation is key for growth!!!

No it's not bad because water is one of the best moisturizer for your hair. Just try (if you're not doing so already) using your finger to detangle before using a comb. Take care

There is no right or wrong answer for this. Hair will shed daily so unless you notice breakage or clumps, I would assume it is normal shedded hair. I believe that low manipulation is the key to growth as well. I noticed my hair grew the fastest and was most healthy when I waws in bootcamp and couldnt do it. It was wrapped 75% of the time and the other 25% it was in flat twists. I was relaxed at that time, but i figure its the same concept.

I feel really keen on untangled in the shower but I think I'm just gonna have to ween myself off it and just start finger-detangling

I use to do this before I cut all my relaxed hair out and it was the #1 reason for my breakage and lack of length. I use to detangle in the shower every morning before school and it cause me to rush and rip the comb through your hair. Also with any manipulation your going to always do some kind of damage to your hair no matter how gentle you are. Have you tried keeping your hair in different protective styles to keep your hair less tangled in between washes? Have you tried using a spray water bottle to keep your hair wet while detangling? The less you have to manipulate your hair the better your hair will be. I only detangle once a week now and I wash 3 times a week. I've noticed my hair has been in much better condition.

Do what works for you. If you're worried about the amount of shedding, maybe you can try waiting a few days to detangle and compare that to how much it is when you do it everyday.
I detangle once or twice a week with a detangling comb and once every two weeks with a denman. The brush gets out the shed hair better than the comb.

I detangle once a week, if I don't, I find my hair clumps and curls better, but usully in a week's time, it's tangly. I could probably not detangle for two weeks and be fine but everyday, for me, would result in a sore scalp

I do this too because if I don't, I end up with tangles galore! My hair is only about 5 inches. But it help so much and I get less tangles and my hair is growing like a weed
