Miconazole Nitrate is the active ingredient that is supposed to influence hair growth. I tried it a while ago and I didn't experience any shedding or anything bad when I stopped. I used the equate brand. I applied it to my scalp. I don't use it now and haven't for over a year, but I don't have any reservations about using it. If it's safe for the down there region, it can't be bad for your scalp. Some people may disagree but that's how I see it. Sure it isn't intended for that location but neither is toothpaste for pimples. Still works.lol
I was probably consistent with it for about a month and I remember getting pretty good results. Maybe like a quarter inch more. I didn't measure though and it's been a while so I don't remember every detail. But if I experienced anything horrible or bad/unsatisfactory I'm sure I'd remember that. I do remember that back then I wasn't retaininig a lot of length in general though because my hair was damaged so I bet if I tried it again in conjunction with my regimen now, I'd probably see really good results since I'm better with growth retention now.
I've realized I'm not consistent with this type of stuff in general though. I've tried to be, with the MN, the sulfur, but I just can't keep up with it. I try. I have a lot of sulfur left so I'm gonna try to use that up. Idk if I'd revisit this stuff again. I'm not against it though

yea i was just reading i have been natural for a while and not doing anything i have length (just stumbled across this website not too long ago) so i just purchased castor oil wish weighed down my straight hair...i have naturally oily hair a quite contradiction to being curly so it went super straight after a night so im ready to wash it (its only been 2 days) and maybe i will give it a try
i may wait and see if this castor oil is going to help some im not all about length tho i just want healthy hair...
so who knows maybe next month i will give it a try or while im on vacation sorta in cali next week

I may have to try this now. Thanks for the info. So what's the deal though, you would apply it on your scalp like an oil? How often would you do it?

You mix it in an oil of your choice and apply it to your scalp as often as you'd like. When I did it I used it every other day. You have to be cognizant of your own sensitivities and scalp needs though.

Thanks so much for clarifying. I was thinking you would just apply this directly to the scalp with no oils. I'll be picking some up tomorrow and mix it with jojoba oil. So does it have to be the monistat or will any other yeast infection cream do?

You don't have to use that brand. I used the equate brand because it was cheaper. I don't remember other brands as I haven't used it in a long time.
I suggest using this with caution first go around though to gauge your sensitivities.

I used it for almost 3 months, havent used it in almost 3 wks. Everything still seems fine. Hair is thicker and longer. My edges got thicker, but they still wouldnt get much longer (they still had breakage). It did give me headaches the 1st couple of wks, the day after I would apply it.

Not really. I mixed it with grape seed oil and a bit of water and it's basically an odorless mix.

Anybody have an exact recipe for this??
Does it have to be applied directly onto the scalp or can I add it to my water spray bottle and use it like that??

You dont want to get it on your hair, just your scalp. It can dry the hair out. I used 1in of monistat, mixed with 2-3 tbsp of warm water, and a few drops of jojoba oil. I put mine in a small bottle and shook it until monistat dissolved. My bottle had a pointed tip so I could easily apply straight to the scalp. Then I would massage it for a few minutes. After 1month, I increased to 2in of monistat, but used same amount of water and oil.

I've been dying to try this but I don't spend $13 on ANY product without feeling pretty good about it. How long does one tube last and how often do I apply?
I'm about 4in away from APL and I would love it by Christmas

I did it every other day before bed. I bought the 7day prefilled applicators. With one prefilled applicator I was able to make 3 or 4 of my 'concoctions' (I was eyeballing the 1 and 2 inches, so it was never exact). I would get like 3 applications out of each bottle of my mixture. So it really wasnt bad. I actually just started doing it again tonight because I have been talking about it. I just have a hard time staying consistent. I want to do another 3mo. But be aware of the headaches. I had them for the first couple of weeks, usually 8-12 hours after I applied it.

Lol! I know it's bizarre but it might have been that they noticed some strange hair growth in the nether regions
I figure it's worth a shot. If me and many others could put Sodium Hydroxide on our hair(and sometimes scalp by mistake) for many years, a little of this should be fine.

Do you rinse it out? Or does the white cream blend in?
I have a small tube of external Canesten cream that came with the Canesten tab I bought a while back. The tube says not to use for more than 7 consecutive days at a time. Would this rule also apply to your scalp?
