How old is your stash?

I'm a recovering product junkie. After a lifetime of 'buy and try' I've narrowed down the product graveyard to a select number of HGs and a few novelties.

Problem is, I've still got a HUGE stash of all of the same products. Four bottles of this, two jars of that, a large and small size of that, and five jars of this in case they change the formula, etc.....I'm like hurricane STOCKED on Holy Grails.

Case in point - I'm on my last full jar of Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding ORIGINAL FORMULA from 3-4 years ago when I stocked up in fear.

I know products expire, grow bacteria, etc. and you have to be aware of shelf life, blah, blah,blah but I ain't throwin' out my stuff. I'll take my chances.

Question - am I the only one? How old is your stash?

My stash is not old at all. I think the oldest thing I have is my raw Shea butter which maybe about six months old. I do buy in multiples but my stock gets used up quickly now that I have to share with my girls.

My stash isn't too old. I didn't go back to hauling until late '09 after a long break from buying stuff since I had so much. It looks like I may take another long break from pjism because it gets boring after a while. I have my staples too so my quest for the best is now over.

I got some stuff that is pretty old. Maybe about 3-4 years. I found one bottle of swimmer's shampoo that was 15 years old.

I've been going at my stash pretty hard. I threw away a lot of stuff and gave the still good stuff away to Salvation Army or as gifts. I don't have too much left now but it'll still take a while to get rid of it. I don't need much product. *sigh*

I think I have some form of hoarding. I bought mutiples of a lot of stuff only to not use it. Now, I think of every product as dollar signs. It's money I'm wasting if I don't use it.

I have an unopened dusty PCJ relaxer kit from about 5ish years ago... back when I thought kiddie relaxers were "safer" than regular ones lol

I have 6 Miss Jessies big jars (all about 90% full) that my mom talked me into purchasing say about 6 or 7 yrs ago (sad part I wasn't even natural back then lol).

Otherwise most of my stash isn't more than a year or 18 months old. I try to give away and toss items regularly.

a year, i go thru my summer stash quick, its the butters and pomades I dont use a lot of.

Ive been going thru it this summer though so im good.

The oldest things in my stash is this Suave shampoo that's nearly two years old. Everything else is anywhere from a month-18 months old. I tend to toss stuff after about 2 years regardless how often it was used.

The majority of my stash is mid range I guess (1-2 years), but I do still have the first product I bought for my natural hair when I first transitioned 6 years ago, a tube of Matrix Wet Shine Flood Gel. Im almost done with it, pretty good stuff. Im moving through my older stash to get rid of it.

They oldest product I have is a 1 year old 8oz KCCC. I have about 15% left...

Everything else is months old and only one other item from late last year.

I recently tried to clean up my stash, by throwing away products I knew I could no longer use. I found some products I used in middle school, so they had to be at least 6-7 years old...I had a pretty good laugh about it, knowing what I know now, at how awful some of those products were. And I use to wonder why my hair was always so frizzy and out of control lol

Non-Naturals
Organix, Aussie Moist, etc - had for a year or more

Semi Natural (97-98%)
Curl Junkie, some SheScentIt, etc - no more than 9 months old (Curl Junkie can last up to 2 years if unopened and kept cool)

Natural
Oyin, Kyra's Ultimate Indulgence, etc - 3-6 months old is as long as I will keep it.

Homemade stuff
My flaxseed custards last about a week
My shea butter or mango butter blends I freeze until ready to use

Oils
Natural mixed (Lakshmi oil from the UK) I keep about 6 months
KBB Jojoba Heaven I've had for 9 months

KBB Luscious Locks hair Mask I add perservatives to it that I buy online for New Directions

Most of my stash is a year or less. I do worry about my natural stylers going bad. Although I use them daily, I only use a little bit and I have seven of them. I've got to stop myself from buying another one or I'll drive myself nuts trying to keep up. I still have some Kinky Curly Curling Custard from 3 years ago. My goal is to finish it off by the end of this year.

No more than a year. I try to buy just enough so what I purchase will last until the next known sale. I also started giving away stuff I cannot use so that go rid of a lot of nonsense.

The one exception is a container of eco-styler gel and call me crazy but I am not sure that stuff even goes bad LOL

The oldest thing I have is from 2 years ago, some Lusters Gloss or whatever its called. Other than that some olive oil from a year ago. Everything else is from within the last 8-10 months.
