UPDATE-Previous Beija Flor Naturals Purchasers, is this shipping out of line?
Or is it just me? I don't do a ton of online shopping all the time, but this shipping just seemed a little much to me. I went to their site, have the 8oz Creme Brulee and 8oz Hemp Buttercream in my cart, and shipping to VA comes up $7.90. Had more in my cart before, the 16oz Brulee,8oz Buttercream, and 4oz pomade and shipping was almost $14. I contacted the owner over etsy and she replied:
"The website has been keeping us very busy and we haven't had the time to re-stock the most popular products on etsy. $13 in shipping for $50 of items is about what it costs us to ship, and is well below the shipping rate of other online retailers. We use flat rate shipping and also factor in the cost of materials depending on the size of the item. Feel free to send a message if you have any other questions."
This is my 1st time trying to order from them, just wanted to know if this price for shipping was normal for them, could have sworn thier flat rate shipping was $2.50. And maybe im spoiled by Aveyou, but shipping for just those items seems high to me. Sorry for the novel ladies, just wanted others who have ordered from them to chime in, I really want to try their stuff but the shipping is kind of yuck.

I just looked at my order from June 28 and my shipping for 8oz creme brulee and 8oz hempseed buttercream was $6.98. If im not mistaken it is coming from CA so I imagine that is compareable to other companies.

That shipping sounds reasonable.
The reason why bigger companies can offer cheaper shipping is because they get bigger discounts because they ship more--so they can pass their savings on to you.

Oh ok, thanks so much ladies, I just wanted to make sure it was on the up and up, my soon-to be broke grad student self was giving a major side-eye lol. And that makes sense about the larger company scenario coilynapp, I think I will bite the bullet and order.

Yay thanks ladies im excited! I kinda wish I would have purchased the 16oz brulee in case I love it, but I can hold out until BF if I do. Tomorrow marks 2 weeks so I hope there's a box waiting for me when I get off

Well ladies, it turns out I won't be trying this stuff for awhile. I sent her an etsy convo today about shipping and she said my stuff shipped to some random place in Washington state on last tuesday! Ummm, I live on the east coast. She said she sent it to the address on my paypal account, not my current location. Huh??? I told her in no way, on my receipt or anywhere, was any address even close to the one she said she sent my items to. She offered to resend the items or issue me a full refund and even though I was beyond super excited to try her products, probably more than any line in recent memory, I decided to just get the refund because I was just irritated by the whole thing. She was overall friendly in her correspondence, so I may give her another shot down the road, I don't know for sure, but it will be awhile and definitely only through a sale.

@KeepitNatural Yeah she was pretty fast to reply when I talked to her on etsy, even though she said the best way to contact her was through the email on her site.

Wow, sorry you guys are having a bad experience. I don't remember my shipping taking forever.. I wasn't really paying attention to it. The products really are fantastic. (Creme Brulee and Hemp Buttercreme). Hope you guys get some satisfaction.

I've only ordered from them once. I placed my order 6/30 and recieved it 7/18. They sent me an email saying "Items typically take 5-7 days to ship
although it can take up to 2 weeks due to the handmade/custom made nature of the items."

From what I've heard she makes batches of a few things at a time and ships them once she has enough orders to make a batch.
She sends out tweets when she has something ready to go so people can place an order and I've noticed she's placed a "Ships Within 48 hours" button on her items list.

I already want more Hemp Buttercreme in the Brown Sugar and Fig scent... that stuff is SOOO GOOD. Extremely moisturizing. VERY. And GREAT for twists. Insane twist out moisture and definition (I've only twisted out my bangs...)
