So... I am sitting under my new dryer... luxuriating in the fact that the back of my neck isnt on fire (from a bonnet dryer) and that all my hair is drying evenly (unlike my old table tob hard hat) and that im only thirty minutes in and after a curl test ...another fifteen minutes and im good!

I just wanted to say, because I went through MUCH debate about getting this dryer over the pibbs because even though its less than half of the cost for a pibbs(300), 130 bucks (with free shipping) still isnt something to shake a stick at..And assembly was fairly easy, I did it myself in about 25 mins although I have a thing for power tools.. kinda made it a bit easier..

So if there are any ladies out there who were on the fence like I was im putting it out there that this dryer is fantastic and if you dont mind not owning a name brand then this is definitely a good purchase...and its QUIET in my opinion.. I can still hear my phone, the tv and my laptop computer..

ironically my SO was mad because he was going to get me a pibbs for xmas and he walked in my room and gave me that angry baby face... im just like an iphone works just as good XD

I have a question for you tho. How do think the dryer will work for someone using the grey or black rollers on their entire head? I am actually relaxed and recently a bsl (my hair was much longer 2 wks ago before a major chop so I may just use the grey rollers only now).

I'll really appreciate any advice u have to give on the size.

Thanks!!
Sorry I took so long to reply and honestly.. it might be a bit tight but the chamber is pretty darn roomy, I had a head full of curlformers (full) and they fit pretty comfortably. Theres so many ways you can adjust it positioning wise as well and Ive been under there with (it was a different brand than the grey) two inchers on top and it was fine.. hope that helps

I had to come by and drop my experience with this product because I searched high and low for reviews and couldn't find any that were recent. The dryer I think is a good value for the money, though my experience with it has been somewhat limited - I have used it a total of 4 times over 2-3 months. With my permed hair which is very fine and soft, it dried my hair in like 20 minutes, all I did was wrap it. And it came out pretty good. With my weave I guess I may have had high expectations...but thing cannot perform miracles, I sat underneath for 45 minutes and the hair was dry but the roots were still a little damp which I guess could be expected. It doesn't "suck your hair into the fan" like some people described, it is just like the Pibbs ones they use in the Dominican salons - as a matter of fact the salon I go to actually does use this brand.

One thing that was an issue was trying to find a way to sit underneath that is comfortable. I got all set to sit on my office chair underneath the dryer, but obviously you need a chair that has a low back so the dryer can go over your head. I had to get one of those metal folding chairs and a foot stool to raise my legs, and keep raising the bar up and down to find a comfortable position. So that takes some getting used to.

As far as the space issue, yea...this thing is big! My apartment is not huge and I didn't want to leave it out all the time so I had to get creative. The bonnet piece I have in the corner of my bedroom, wrapped up between uses, and the stand part I have stored in my broom closet. Disassembling it further between uses is not really a reasonable option.

It gets nice and hot, the fan is powerful but it doesn't burn you.

One challenge I had was the knob for the timer came off last time I used it...no bueno because there is no way to stop or start it without that knob. I managed to get the knob back on but it wasn't as easy as just clicking it back in, I had maneuver it around. I was disappointed with this being only the 5th use.

Al in all...for the price tag go for it. It gets the job down and Pibbs can't be that much better constructed that it is worth paying 2.5 times as much!
