LCL dryer
I had to come by and drop my experience with this product because I searched high and low for reviews and couldn't find any that were recent. The dryer I think is a good value for the money, though my experience with it has been somewhat limited - I have used it a total of 4 times over 2-3 months. With my permed hair which is very fine and soft, it dried my hair in like 20 minutes, all I did was wrap it. And it came out pretty good. With my weave I guess I may have had high expectations...but thing cannot perform miracles, I sat underneath for 45 minutes and the hair was dry but the roots were still a little damp which I guess could be expected. It doesn't "suck your hair into the fan" like some people described, it is just like the Pibbs ones they use in the Dominican salons - as a matter of fact the salon I go to actually does use this brand.
One thing that was an issue was trying to find a way to sit underneath that is comfortable. I got all set to sit on my office chair underneath the dryer, but obviously you need a chair that has a low back so the dryer can go over your head. I had to get one of those metal folding chairs and a foot stool to raise my legs, and keep raising the bar up and down to find a comfortable position. So that takes some getting used to.
As far as the space issue, yea...this thing is big! My apartment is not huge and I didn't want to leave it out all the time so I had to get creative. The bonnet piece I have in the corner of my bedroom, wrapped up between uses, and the stand part I have stored in my broom closet. Disassembling it further between uses is not really a reasonable option.
It gets nice and hot, the fan is powerful but it doesn't burn you.
One challenge I had was the knob for the timer came off last time I used it...no bueno because there is no way to stop or start it without that knob. I managed to get the knob back on but it wasn't as easy as just clicking it back in, I had maneuver it around. I was disappointed with this being only the 5th use.
Al in all...for the price tag go for it. It gets the job down and Pibbs can't be that much better constructed that it is worth paying 2.5 times as much!
