Green house effect?

This is the best post I've seen that compared & contrasted baggying and GHE. one promotes growth & the other retains length. I am in the process so I cannot attest to growth yet. But I got my info here.

Wow, Sienna, that's amazing growth in 2 weeks! I couldn't wait until tomorrow, so I shampooed tonight and will resume the ghe. I hope for the same results that you're getting!

Thanks. I have just started taking biotin to see if it helps. I now have an idea of the rate of growth from ghe now I can see if biotin speeds it up a little. I would love 4 to 5 quality inches.

I started to take a centrum multivitamin and biotin daily. I started that 2 days ago and already my nails have seen improvement. Since taking these vitamins I have more energy, which at the moment is unfortunate because its 1:20 am and I just can't fall asleep.
Do any of you do this (GHE) after exercising/sweating? Although I'd like to take advantage of GHE on a regular basis, I don't always feel like washing my hair after exercising. Should I just rinse my scalp? If I don't at least rinse before putting on the plastic cap I'd feel like the germs in there are just multiplying like crazy.
No MAS.

Okay, I've tried the GHE with just covering with the plastic cap and the baggying method with my oil mixture. I think the GHE works nicely on the day or two after a fresh wash and then baggying with an oil or moisturizer if you're trying to stretch beyond 2 or maybe 3+ days.

I just have to get past the initial "sweat" smell when I first remove the bag after baggying....

This will definitely become part of my winter nightime routine.

Thanks for starting this thread and teaching me something new; I'm so behind the times y'all!!

I forgot about this tbh, I should have being doing it when I was wearing W&Gs because I can't rinse the oil out of my hair in the mornings now that I'm in twists most often (messes them up).
My hair is in the 4s, low in porosity, high in density and coarse.

Love: QB - all of it, Bobeam - shampoo bars, Darcy's Botanicals - Pumpkin Seed Conditioner, Coconut Cupuacu Pomade, KBN - Shealoe Leave-in, Oyin - Juices & Berries, Kinky Curly - Knot Today, Ayurvedic treatments, my Denman and the cloud of kinky goodness on my head that I get to play with!
I did a search & destroy since I saw some damage from a recent straightening so I'm at 8-9 inches all over again. I will be doing ghe once a month for a week from now on. I have been doing it this week to get my mousture balance in check. My goal is still bsl by December 2012.

I hadn't been doing it faithfully as I had originally planned but I would at least get it in once or twice a week. I will continue it just because of the moisture retention. I tried my hand in jbco and although the definition was on point I felt like I was shedding more hairs --not dramatically or anything but just a few more stands seemed to come out that didn't seem so before I used it. I mixed it with my leave in and some aloe and it worked wonders, not sure why I stopped that either. Hmm

So I've been doing the GHE on and off over the past few weeks and noticed that the crown of my head is basically wet when I wake up in the morning however the sides or length of my hair is moisturized (barely damp). Well, this difference in moisture is causing the hair at my crown to frizz somethin' terrible and my style ends up wrecked.

Do you all think it's because I may not be securing my edges enough to allow even GHE?
When I first tried at the ghe my hair would be fresh out the shower wet. I'de wake up with moderately damp hair. After trying that I started to mist my hair as in, not directly spraying my hair with water but spraying up towards the ceiling and allow the mist to gently hit my hair then I would follow up with my sealant. This works fairly well. However you don't have to wet your hair. The ghe itself creates moisture by the trapped heat that gives a steam effect. Some days I won't wet or mist at all if my hair is moisturized I may reapply oil and do the ghe and wake up to slightly damp moisturized hair. I don't rinse out the next morning and my hair whether in twists ,coils ,a puff stays maintained enough that I don't have to fuss with it in the morning. If my twists are flat on the morning the hot steam from the shower and a little
Finger manipulation has it looking new

I've been GHE-ing for the past few months, while in & out of kinky twists. Don't know about growth, but I do like how it keeps my hair moisturized (what hair I can feel thru the twists). I usually use JBCO mixed with KBB Heavnly jojoba, or sometimes nothing. In the am I ususally rub a little KBBHJ on top to seal.
I get results of 50% faster growth when I ghe nightly for a month. Typically I get .5 in each month, when I faithfully ghe I get 1in. I just can' sleep with a bag on my head swishing all night for months so I opted to ghe once a month for 7 days straight to promote growth.

I used to love baggying when I first went natural, it does make the hair feel soft but moisturised, haven't done so for about 2 months, I guess gotta start again.
Hello,

I have been doing the GHE for the past 5 days and it's been the best thing I found for my hair since I went natural (Dec 20th 2011). My hair is feeling more and more moisturized, softer, shiner and my curls are more defined. The ends for looking better and better. I will totally continue this. I'll try to do it every night for the next three months. I read it can help with growth, so maybe my twa stage will be shorter than expected.

I did it the first 2 days with damp hair and EVOO. The 3rd day I massaged my scalp with Tea tree oil and rosemary oil (I have bad dandruff) and my personal shea butter mix, always on damp hair. On the 4th and 5th night I felt my hair still had some oil in it so I just sprayed a little bit of water mixed with glycerin on it.

I'm so happy something is finally working!! If my hair can stay moisturized throughout the day, the possibilities are endless!!
So wait.. Is the oil added on dry hair or wet/damp hair?
I still don't understand. Is GHE done just with your regular hair, maybe some oil added, and then you just go the next morning. I baggy, pretty much deep conditioning every night with a bag and bonnet. But I'm not understanding GHE. I'd like the growth though, seems interesting!
