I just started using flaxseed gel and I use a pomade. My process is after I wash/cowash apply leave-in I band my hair to stretch it and let it dry some. I put on the flaxseed gel and pomade and detangle each twist section with the denman and then twist. My twists hold better if I twist on almost dry hair.
I like KCKT and Darcy's Botanicals Peach Hydrating Milk, neither have proteins.

I make my own butter using mango butter (1 cup) Argan oil (1 cup), and a teaspoon of almond oil (for fragrance). I melted the mango butter (over boiling water) and whipped with a blender. I order my products from Camden Gray.

I twist on hair stretched via braiding, banding or a tension blow-out. I use a leave-in conditioner while stretching and add more while two-strand twisting. I do medium or small twists depending on my mood. I twist with Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque.
For protein-free leave-in conditioners, I like Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque and Alba Botanica Leave-In Conditioner.
P.S. You know that SM Curl and Style Milk has silk protein in it, right?

I twist on blow dried hair, using Blue Magic coconut oil ( grease) and Oyin Handmade's Shine&Define gentle styling serum. Best.twistouts.ever.
As for a protein free leave-in, I love Oyin Handmade's Hair Dew. Good stuff!

I like twisting on dry hair with KBB creamylicious (and more recently QB AOHC). When I do twists on wet hair I use Jane Carter Nourish and Shine.
My favorite protein-free leave-in is KCKT, Oyin Hair Dew is next in line.

I twist on damp hair with QB CTDG under and AHTB on top.
A leave-in I love in KBN Shealoe.

I've found that after rinsing my conditioner out I'll use a pray bottle with ACV and water. Then use my favorite creamy leave in ( using up the last of my kckt ). Then using my new love twisting with flaxseed gel with castor to seal.

I usually twist on wet hair with Shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie. Very rarely do I use heat. I let me hair stretch out using the basing method or retest at night. I moisturize my ends ever other night with whatever product I used to twist with. I'm also loving oyin burnt sugar pomade for my twists. With the pomade you only need a little bit!
