never mind I figured it out. Just in case anyone is wondering. You put your hair while you sleep which helps your hair not to get smooshed while you sleep. Since my hair is short I did 5 little pony tails in my hair and it's helped a lot with tangles.

I WnG year round too, but I live in Miami, Fl so the weather change is very subtle. The main difference is humidity and I only need to make minor product adjustments once the humid months get here. I would say pineappling is my HG more than any product. When I combine pineappling at night with my homemade FSG I can get up to a week of awesome hair.

I'm hearing so many great things about fsg. Do you have to use a hard hold gel on top? What do you put under?

For me personally it worked like magic all by itself aa long as I apply it very generously to each section. Thats the beauty of it. One very cheap product and VOILA perfect hair!

Really now. Have you tried it with anything or have you been using it alone since the beginning?

I added jojoba oil and honey once, and that added extra hold, but it really wasn't necessary at all.

This sounds like a great combo. I really like these products. Do you get 2nd day hair with Komaza Califia Pudding? I love this product, but I barely get 2nd day hair with it. Maybe the CJ Curl Rehab will help.

I feel like the curls that appeared consistently last month when I wng'd have disappeared somewhat. Maybe the temperature drop has something to do with it, should I up my moisture? does anybody else's definition drastically change with the weather?

This doesn't happen to me, but I have read in other sections of this site about some curlies losing curl definition once the dew point dips past a certain number. The drier the air is, the less hydration the hair retains, thus the less curl definition. *Makes for the ideal time to straighten if you're into that sort of thing...*

Sorry so late....yes you should get 2nd day hair because I've gone back to doing my hair once per week...it gets bigger but it lasts all week with a little refreshing by scruching in som CIAB.

Yesterday I WNG and realized less is
more (Aussie+water) but I'm not sure
if I need more to protect my hair. When I put too much product it either gets hard or coated & cottony.

Yeah, less is more. Same for my hair. You do need to protect it with something on top (like an oil to seal, maybe) or cover it so that it doesn't dry out. To keep it from being too much just use a lightweight oil (avocado, grapeseed, almond) or a lightweight silicone product if you don't follow the CG method. Use sparingly depending on how the product feels in your hands on wet hair and then reapply whenever you need to after your hair has dried.

Board member Naturalista has always said "Train Your Hands". It's the one most helpful statement I've found on this site. For most products, a little can go a long way.

I recently found a wng option tgat works for me. I was wonderung if my hair is supposed to stay a little wet even a day later? I have a pack of curls in the back that never really dries. I'm normal porosity if that matters. I use SM restorative condish as a LI or SM CES to style.

Odd, and probably not helpful at ALL, my Long Aid suddenly has a lot of hold. I guess with lower dews it's behaving like styling gel. Weird.

It was all the stuff I was using- probably my coconut oil- causing hard hair in the cold. I've been using my gel naked and the hair seems fine.

Being low porosity is the reason I do any kind of styling on damp to dry hair, including my wash n go's...I plop with a t-shirt for 30mins after washing

Sometimes after applying the product I plop overnight...

What on earth us plopping? Sounds intriguing.

using a tshirt on your hair to dry it (plopping or plunking your hair - YouTube)
I am also low-porosity and I WnGo all year round in the morning. It's been a really mild winter in DC, so i haven't had any frozen hair day dangers. I do have a satin lined scarf in case I feel the need to cover my head when I walk out in the morning. My hair is usually pretty dry (except at the roots) by the time I head home.

So far the only product I have been happy with in this dry low dew weather is Komaza Califia pudding. I am kind of annoyed b/c I bought a bunch of CJ products and none of them are working for me *headdesk. The dew point here has been ranging anywhere from 1 to 50, so it's not making my experimenting any easier. Seriously considering putting some twists in until the weather levels out (March? April? *shrug*)
