Wash and gos in the winter.
I hate protective styling and twisting and braiding. Wash and gos are easy and quick & turn out right 99% of the time. Am I the only person who wash and gos on the winter even though they live in a place where it gets cold in the winter.

I'm from Detroit originally and when the last winter hit, I was only 6 months natural with about 4-5 inches of hair. I did wash & gos all the time because it was the easiest thing for me to do with my hair. I also used a diffuser on my blow dryer because going outside with wet hair when the temp is 12 degrees is a no no.
Right now I'm living in Tacoma, and while it does get nice and very chilly, I still don't consider it cold compared to what I am used to. I style my hair at night now and let the shower steam refresh it in the morning. Wash and gos are still the easiest thing for me to do with my hair.

I live in New York and I wash n go year round cuz its easy. I usually cowash every couple of nights and just water rinse and apply product in the morning. I also discovered that my hair dries faster if I wrap it in a tshirt for 5-10 minutes after water rinsing.

I am wearing wash n gos this winter. I hate wearing twist because they unravel and my hair is too thin for them to look right. Braids look weird unless they are braided extensions. Only protective styling I wear are buns. But right now I'm giving my edges a break from them. I just started wearing my hair out and curly, because it's at a length I'm comfortable with.
I live in the DC metro area btw, so it gets a little chilly. Enough where you can't go out with soaking hair, but this year it's warm...so...I don't really have to worry too much for now.

I BC'd June 2011 and wore WnGs from that time up until the end of September and I've noticed tons of ssk's. And yes I moisturize and seal everyday. I don't use cheap products. I have yet to search and destroy. Looking for good hair shears. So I'm not sure if I'll go back to WnGs. What do you all think?

Sealing the hair is what works for me. I basically use a leave-in (just a moisturizing conditioner) and natural oil to seal. But I have high porosity hair..so that may not work for you...the sealing.
What you might need is to find a really good water based moisturizing leave in for your hair and a water based styler of some sort.

I live in Kansas and wash and go all year long. I shy away from glycerin loaded stylers and use CJ Rehab (Bomb!) as a leave-in. My hair stays moisturized for several days which is key because some days are better than others weather-wise.

I live in NY, and when I wash n go during the winter, I do them at night so my hair will set and dry by morning...

Yes I have experienced dryness so recently I've been experimenting with what I call the sandwich method by putting avocado oil on my wet hair first, then a moisturizing leave in and then finish with a little more avocado oil. Yesterday was my most successful day so far with maintaining moisture and I used Camille Rose aloe whipped hair gel in between my avocado oil.

I wash and go in the winter. Last winter I moved to MS and I have been having a hard time with my hair here. Before that I was in NC and my hair thrived. I haven't learned how to used a diffuser properly, but I wake up early enough so that my hair is semi dry before I get to work with the help of the car heater.

I finally mastered winter wash and gos after realizing that protective styles weren't going to work for me.
It was trial and error until I found a routine that works. I shampoo and deep condition on Sunday and shampoo again on Wednesdays. I use Bobeam's Cheris Hibiscus bar, Curl Junkie's Argan & Olive Oil Daily Hair Conditioner as a leave in, followed by Hairveda's Whipped Gelly.
This combo works perfectly for me. Each day I just shake and go. I'm in Kansas too and it gets cold here like I've never experienced before and I haven't had any problems...even standing at the bus stop in 20 degree weather on cowash day.

Are there any low porosity people whose hair takes a long time to dry? Does this cause you any problems?
my phone wears the pants in this relationship.

I live in Arizona and I had to give up on WNGs period. I wish I could rock it out here but I've not yet found a gel that works in this dry dry atmosphere. My hair stopped loving KCCC about a year into it.

I'm primarily team Wash n Go. I diffuse all the time and allow it to air dry.the only difference is how much I leave to air dry during diff seasons.
I'm low porosity
