Hello everyone! So far, so good with my plan. I still like the avon hair repair kit that I mentioned before. I will probably need another relaxer by the next time we update. I hope that everyone is doing well! Please let me know if there is anything that anyone would like to know about such as certain products of regimen specifics.

Shrinkage happens.
Yes. I wear buns all of the time actually... except for when I am taking my progress pictures. I am currently looking for some low maintenance yet unique protective styles. I really like the fishtail, but I am trying to find a way to protect the ends. I like the concept of long hair, but not the maintenance. I usually texlax about every 3-4 months.

My hair is in the 4s, low in porosity, high in density and coarse.

Love: QB - all of it, Bobeam - shampoo bars, Darcy's Botanicals - Pumpkin Seed Conditioner, Coconut Cupuacu Pomade, KBN - Shealoe Leave-in, Oyin - Juices & Berries, Kinky Curly - Knot Today, Ayurvedic treatments, my Denman and the cloud of kinky goodness on my head that I get to play with!

I am going to spend the next few months doing things to promote growth which will primarily include keeping my hands out of my head, deep conditioning(proitein and moisture), and moisturizing regularly. If anyone lives out west in the desert states (think Arizona) talk to me about your moisture regimen. I'm interested! I'm in starting today.

Here's my update. My hair seems fuller but not really longer. Either way it's healthy so I'm happy.
The first is from 1-11-2012
The second is from 4-2-2012
The third and fourth are from today. I think this will be my new staple style going forward.

About my hair:
weekly shampoo-HE Honey I'm Strong
daily conditioner-HE Honey I'm Strong (use as li)
go to style-Pocahontas braids
Ok, I have a question about growing it out.
I've finally found a style that I can do. So as far as low manipulation goes, can I cowash once a week without my hair getting dirty?

I would love to go longer because my hair like to be left alone and I notice the most growth when I do. I would love to stretch my cowash to 9/10 days, but am afraid of my follices clogging.

This should mean that the products don't build up so fast and that they don't attract dirt so much. If you're worried about clogging your follicles, make sure you avoid your scalp when you apply your products for the week. Also, if your products are on the light side (not heavily oily, waxy-filled or full of 'cones), then it's also likely to be fine. Ultimately, your hair will tell you if it's ok to co-wash once a week. If it acts a fool, wash it! But I'd tentatively say you'll be fine.
Keep growing that lovely hair!

Couldn't post an attachment in the group, so I'll post it here.
I forgot about the challenge already and put twists in! So it looks shorter even when I pull on the twist, but since I'm pretty much always in twist, I bet most of my progress pics will be twist shots anyway.

Things haven't gone brilliantly. There are parts of my hair that are permanently dry and they really bother me. I've have trims already because there were two periods where I wore loads of wash and gos and for my hair, in winter, this does not work.
My updated shots, two weeks late, are below:

My mini length goal is hip length. I'm at waist now and I'm at the tail-end of a protective style challenge. Here is my most recent length shot.

I can finally get my hair into a pony puff! With 1 ponytail holder!! I can't believe it, I couldn't do this 2 weeks ago! So, I might be wearing pony puffs more often, is this style bad? Its not tight at all either!

Hey guys.. its been months since Ive checked in and I currently have an install of my second attempt at senegalese twists.. anyone have any tip on how to get them TIGHT at the root.. they already slip a little bit since they are twists.. and not too tight to cause damage.. but jeeze kinda hard to have a protective style that has slipped two weeks later.. and I dont like the look they have when they are started as a braid.. any tips?

Getting there slowly but surely!
