This. My hair doesn't like Qhemet's products (and I'm kinda glad about that considering the drought lol) but I feel you all's pain. At the same time...prior to December, Qhem's had an excellent rep for customer service. She's ALWAYS gracious and helpful on NP and her products are top-notch quality--I can recognize that despite the fact that my hair doesn't play well. AND she gives out free products on FB on the regular--that's above and beyond the norm.
All that leads me to believe that whatever is going on with her production, the problem has nothing to do with greed, malice, laziness etc. Sometimes isht, just happens. I'd hate to see such an awesome company and business owner raked over the coals because of something she likely can't control...I'm just saying, personally, considering her track record, I'd give her the benefit of the doubt.
Just think. You guys are pizzed because you're missing some hair products. This is her livelihood. How much more pizzed must she be?

I think most of us realize she is having growing pains, but she is stringing folks along with her failure to communicate.
All she has to do is open up all of her items to a few more online retailers and post on her website that she is vendor only until further notice. That will set people straight and allow her to focus on finding a manufacturer instead of the slow decline of her customer base due to repeated complaints.

Long as I can walk into a local store and order online elsewhere I'm good.

See that's my issue, the closest store is about a 45min drive and they jack the price up by $4-6 and then add in Chicago tax of 10.75%...ughhhh I just can not. Sage is my best bet.
I have quite a bit stashed (that is the hoarder in me I guess) so I'm good for awhile.
Also, Sage hasn't had a sale since she began selling QB online, hmmmmm.

Yikes!
The store near me is about 5-10 minutes away and they only jack up the price about $1.50. That's not too bad. But the main problem I have is that they are almost never in stock with what I need when I need it. The shampoo, the oil, and the MTCG are almost always on the shelf when I go there. But the CTDG, AOHC and BRBC go with the quickness. I can call ahead and have stuff put on hold but since I'm at school it can be a pain to get my mom to cooperate with me

At least ya'll have a local retailer to DRIVE to; there are none in my area anymore. The only one we had stopped carrying Qhemet in the Fall of last year....hhhmmmmm; she was hikin' the prices up $3-$4 dollars anyway.
Looks like if I'm gonna continue with QB products this Spring/Summer I'll have to get it thru Sage. Shipping to my area sucks royally so I'll wait for a sale!

Right! Maybe supply Aveyou as well. Their shipping is reasonable and they don't price hike.

Thanks, that makes sense if she can only produce enough to go to her retailers.
I definitely agree with you - there are some people on a "boycott Qhemet" kick and I don't really think that is fair. For people to go hard on a company just because they can't order from their site (because they can still get it online, and Sage is great, it's not like it's a shady place) while there are other companies flat out lying to folks is a little much.
However, imho, in the case of a prolonged issue, I do think they need to be more transparent with their customers. I was reading some of their responses via Facebook and they were really vague. I am looking at their list of retailers and it only has 23 shops. Now, I do not know how big the orders are at these other shops, but I do know that for my local store, the stock is fairly small (maybe 10 or so pieces of each product in stock at a time), so it may be difficult for people to understand why they are only stocking retailers without NCC's input shedding some light on it.

I think I remember Qhemet saying that if you are in need of something immediately, and if you can't get from other vendors, then you can call customer service to order stuff. I don't know if it still holds true atm though, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.
------------------------------------------------------
Also, I understand that people are frustrated with how Qhemet's site has been down for months, and they have every right to be. Hell, I'm frustrated but it's not something I think about everyday. If you are going to get your customers hyped about a sale, and not actually have one when you say you will then yeah, people are gonna get butt-pained. On top of that you closed your store for almost 3 months and don't tell anyone as to why. People are going to start thinking negatively, and that is reasonable. If you don't explain why something has happened, then you've left it open for people to start making up their own theories. That is what happens when people are uninformed.
And I did start thinking things--both negatively and positively. I believe that's me only being human. So if some folks want to "boycott" Qhemet, let them. Who cares? Only themselves and people who choose to care. When Qhemet's store opens back up they will probably go flocking back to her anyway.
If Qhemet chooses not to explain herself to her customers, then fine. Fair enough. Doesn't mean she's a terrible person, because she is extremely polite. I'm sure by now she's faced all the bullsh*t from her angry fans, and knows there will be more to come. But that was her choice to make.

Bam! An explanation and I'm appeased! I know she doesn't owe me, but if she can give you these details, why not add them to the website notice? Trust me I love QB and the way their business is run, I recommend them always, but in all the queries on the Facebook page, she tells people to subscribe to their emails, but we've had zero information through emails! I agree with the constant great customer service and nice frequent giveaways, but to close your shop for over 3 months with no explanation is not normal, heck even a fake explanation would have allowed people to move on to other means of getting their stuff or trying new things temporarily (because I can't see a situation where I wouldn't go back when they re-open).
Given all that you've said about how many units they would need to manage a sale, restocking all the stores, getting used to the new packaging/suppliers and what have you, I'm sure they must know whether or not they will be back in full business this month or not. Considering how well run the business has been so far, I would be very surprised if they had no idea in December that they'd still be closed come March. The vagueness of the 'foreseeable future' leaves me worrying about getting suckered if I buy now and face the sale tomorrow. If they clearly said, we do not expect to be open again for another 2 months (for example) I would immediately know my options. What's wrong with a little more detail, especially if it's being given to people already?

$4-6 huh? On Mariposa, the European option, the $14 products go for $29. Yeah, you read that right. That's why I'm sitting on my hands and waiting. That's why I'd be totally gutted if I bought stuff and there was a sale days after.

I just want to say, I wasn't suggesting that folks not boycott Qhemet....I mean it's your money you do what ya wanna. I also understand WHY folks are pissed off and I think that a little bit more direct communication with customers that explains exacty WHAT is going on would go a long way and might actually smooth things over (that and at least 30% off instead of the usual 20% sale). I mean I missed the last sale too so I'm working off of the stash I had built up, so I'm a bit antsy to restock as well.
I was just offering up what information I knew about the shutdown of the website.

Well I appreciated the info! I see the daily posts they get on their wall which must drive them crazy! (can't people read the post below that says the store is closed, go local or use Sage??) So I never thought to contact them direct, and tbh, I assumed I would get the same response everybody else is getting.
I ain't boycotting nothing! I love QB and will be right there waiting for them to re-open!

jo my name IS Sophia maybe because I deleted/unliked their page I can't see anything besides them, all I see when i go to their fb page is their updates no other ones
and that reason about why se can't sell from site makes sense, I wish they would of just said that to everyone from the get go. some ppl were Savin money specifically to blow in that sale that never happened. I'm glad she's stickin to her guns though with choosing a good manufacturing company.

I feel like it they want to be vendor only they should make sure that the vendors actually have the products! Ive seen many people complaining about stores only having 1 product from the line, or stores being sold out of everything. Plus, sage seems to always sell out of the popular products quickly.
It's just frustrating. I don't think customers should have to try this hard just to get their hands on some hair products...you'd think their product was the latest Nike Jordans or something...geez

I've been lurking and checking everything out, but as someone who's been waiting on the Karkady mist nigh 2 years, (the formula of which was perfectly FINE to start with), being given the run around about that...
and now THIS!? Umm.. it's insult to injury for me. I love her stuff, but this whole thing starts to look a little unprofessional after a while.
I still love Qhem's stuff to death, but that's just how I've been feeling. She's beginning to act like the man that says he's gonna call, but doesn't. LOLOL!

My Qhemet money became b.a.s.k money. I'll get QB eventually, either during her sale or through Sage.

that's a reasonable explanation. today on FB, she said that she is currently transitioning to auto-production, and that the store will reopen once that transition is complete. who knows how long that will take! in the meantime, i've been looking for alternatives (including B.A.S.K. and Original Moxie) because stalking the QB FB page is starting to be annoying.
