How long after your big chop did you curls finally settle in?
It's been 1 month since my big chop, and I just feel like I'm never going to get a uniform curl
|
It took my hair 2 months. And even now 5 months after my big choose my hair is getting curlier

It's hard to answer since everyone's texture is different. In my case, it took about two months, but in yours, your texture may not change at all. Or it could take longer.
|
For me it took about a day. When I first cut it, it seemed like my hair was a bit "shocked" then after a couple of conditions, it seemed to settle in.
I'm on a boat. |
I don't think anyone has uniform curls but my hair fully settled in after 2 weeks
|
My curls didn't come in until I cut off the scab hair... I have a mixture of 4a 3c

As soon as I cut my hair it immediately curled up but I heard a different from other people.

First, by uniform do you mean all the same size, shrinkage, and everything? If so, most people have different curl patterns on one head, so that might not ever happen unless you manipulate whichever section is not uniform.
My hair gets curlier and curlier as it grows. I think I don't really have any "root curl" (a problem usually associated with looser curlies, I guess that is an example where hair typing just isn't an airtight system) I didn't really have curls until about 2 months in. My hair was actually some weird form of kinky straight....:goofy: Also, My hair is much more curly when it is moisturized, so that might be your problem as well. |
immediately.

After I made sure all of the relaxed ends were gone. I did not get them all off initially when I BC'd so my hair was really weird and frizzy looking. I went in again with some scissors and that solved my problem.

2 years.
Seems like a long time huh, well honestly I didnt big chop. I little chopped and eventually had 6 inches of natural hair after. I didnt know my hair could curl because I consistently kept it stretched via twistouts, twists, and braids for 2 years. One day I was lazy , and left the conditioner in lol I will say the more my moisture levels are on point the better curl definition I have. |

Scab hair is a possibility I guess....if so you just have to play the waiting game until it grows out. |
1st bc i didn't pay attention.
i did a fade for my 2nd bc. my hair was straight as it grew out. i didn't get curls until about 3 or 4 months (if that). my hair constantly changes as it grows. maybe yours will too. i wouldn't be so concerned about a curl. some people have straight hair, others have waves, still more have no curls. i would just ensure my hair was properly moisturized and my scalp cleansed. |
yeah, I DO need to focus of moisturizing. I have so much trouble keeping my hair moisturized. I need like a super moisturizer!
And does anyone know why hair gets curlier when I'm out on a cold day? It's cold where I live and my hair gets really curly when I'm outside for a couple of minutes. |
lol Never

When I cut all of the heat damage off and got it properly moisturized. It's different for everybody though.

i will most likely go back to get all the relaxed ends off. But when? i feel it will be easier to tell what's natural hair once it's longer and more NG grows out
|
I wore a fade for the first two years i was natural. But my hair started to curl once i grew it out to about an inch long.
