That was tacky and if I were her manager I would tell first off to be professional and provide superb excellent service. Second that purchase just helped us pay you, stop potentially damaging sales.

Anyone else excited about 2014? I am stoked! 2013 was rough for me. I am working on a list of life changes, not so much resolutions. I have already started these changes. I think at the end of 2014 I will be more of where and who I want to be.

I wanted these so bad. I was ready to add this to my TO BUY for January but then read it takes two pack of these to complete a full head!!!!! I just would feel so guilty plus I am going to Japan in January so I can't blow that loot on hair! Anyone know where I can find something like this cheaper that ships internationally? Maybe I should just do that awesome Nap85 braid tutorial.....

Dwyane Wade Baby Came During Break This Year From Gabrielle Union MadameNoire

I don't believe the whole "break" thing. Even so why would he not use protection. And why would you want a dude that slings it around without a condom.
Gabby can't complain. She was screwing him while he was married. Karma is a b@#$&. I just lost last little bit of respect I had for her.

India.Arie Speaks Out About Unauthorized Nina Simone Movie | The Official Home of Nina Simone

I know I'm late but I didn't know there was a petition to get Zoe out of this movie. The top reasons are she is not American... lame since actors portray people from different countries all the time.. she is too light skin and looks nothing like Nina. So what. Who says every actor has to look exactly like the person they portray. Denzel Washington is a heck of a lot darker than Malcolm X and no one complained. I don't think Zoe is a great actress but these reasons people have for not wanting her tick me off. They even have a FB page to boycott the movie. Zoe is black and has repeated said she is black so why are people tripping.
If I recall correctly, people were annoyed about Jennifer Lopez being cast as Selena back in the day (she's Puerto RIcan and Selena was Mexican American). I think she still did a fantastic job and the movie still moves me to tears every time I watch it. People should give Zoe a chance, too. I do understand Nina Simone devotees being upset a little bit though if they feel she's being misrepresented. But probably not to the extent that they are. I don't know, maybe I don't understand because I've not been exposed to her as much as others.

I don't care for Zoe as Nina Simone. I don't care about her nationality, as so many actors/actresses realistically portray other nationalities on a regular basis. Christian Bale and Thandie Newton come to mind, as they are regularly cast as Americans. Unless they use a prosthetic nose and a bulky body suit, I think she is too pretty to portray Nina in a way that really shows all of the struggles she dealt with. Zoe is dark enough. If not, just put dark makeup on her. I think Viola Davis, the black actress with dark skin from The Shield or even Kimberly Elise if the director wanted someone younger would all be better fits.

Ironically, Jennifer Lopez actually looked like Selena. That is why Selena's parents wanted her, as she reminded them of their daughter.

Angela Bassett looks nothing like Tina Turner, but she played her so convincingly that I forgot about that. Will Smith looked nothing like Ali, but had similar coloring and built. From what I understand, people forgot that as he gave a great performance.

Jennifer Lopez looked so strikingly like Selena, it must have been very difficult to deny that after that movie came out. She put on a great performance.

I guess we'll just have to see how the movie holds up. I am really curious about it.

I think it's sickening that Zoe agreed to it.

Some don't like to acknowledge the painful fact that people who have noticeable white or non-black ancestry are treated differently and are chosen more by white Hollywood producers and directors because of it. When half-whites or ppl "slightly white looking" are chosen over blacks (yet again) by white people, in the name of the chosen being "just black", it's a deception that keeps many talented black people from getting employed and paid for their talent. Dipping the actress in dark make-up just adds insult to injury. Some call this "colorism" but it's deeper than that because the person usually has lighter skin, but often there are more noticeable non-black features as well.

Certain people in the public pretend the biracial or clearly multi-racial people taking all the black jobs are "just black", but Hollywood (and other industries and people) clearly see the visual difference and act on it prejudiciously. Zoe's choice IMO is disappointing. Especially with all that Vaudeville-like costuming attached to it. But I'm especially disgusted with the many whites who refuse to place more blacks in black roles.

I agree with you Korkscrew about the racial casting. So many of the "black" actresses that are considered attractive by Mainstream or white standards have a white parent or a lineage so mixed that genetically they aren't just black, even if they are culturally. White people do notice this and also are in roles to decide who is cast. I don't find Zoe necessarily fitting this example. Her built and hair texture aren't the norm for African American women, but her other features show she has enough West African ancestry to portray an African American person. I just find her too pretty and slender to portray Nina. I do agree, though, that there are many other black actresses who could portray Nina without so many modifications. I have a feeling that Nina wouldn't be too happy with this choice.

I have a different perspective. I have notice many comments on the Internet and not just on this Zoe situation where it seems all of a sudden we have degrees of "blackness". Kind of like the paper bag test only used in reverse. On one hand there are complaints about half black people saying they are not black like they are denying their heritage and then complaints when half black people say they are black because they are "stealing" black roles. Ridiculous. If Zoe had at some point stated she did not consider herself black then played the role of someone like Nina who was heavily involved in the Civil Rights movement I would see why people might have a problem with it but she hasn't. I think there is a general backlash against not only half black people but also people who are not biracial but not dark skin. Since when is dark skin a prerequisite for being black..People on Net say light skin people are misrepresenting what black people look like. There is no certain way all blacks look especially Americans and if you are looking for black Americans with no white Ancestry good luckwith that. Zoe look to me loks like any other sista to on the block. Most of my relatives are several shades lighter than her. My mom has hazel eyes and our white ancestors are the kind that died in the Civil War. No recent mix. Freaking Mary J. Blidge was the original cast person and I have never seen her without blonde weave yet her "blackness " isn't questioned. Diana Ross was a dark woman who played a light Billie Holiday, Is anyone offended?

Kerri Washington looks a lot like Zoe to me was darkened to play role of Ugandan Queen.

Lisa Bonet is half white so why is it she can portray the daughter of two black parents. I guess Lisa didn't have a problem with it and they had Rudy Vanessa as her sisters. I think the truth is black people can be as diverse looking as the Huxtable kids. If Viola Davis were picked to play Lena Horn I guarantee no one would complain she was too black or too ugly because that's not pc but let's say to say Zoe she is too light too pretty.
So I believe the hotel I stayed in was a hotel and also a love motel. The biggest hint was the 2 condoms in a dish, next to the bed.

Diana, though sexy, not as much of a natural beauty. I always noticed that Denise and Sonia never looked as if they belonged with the other Huxtable children. That is possible if you have a diverse and recently diverse gene pool to pull from, but I don't think most Americans do.

Obviously with America's legacy of the one drop rule, you're going to have many culturally African American people who are more white or Native American or an even mix who may just identify as black, though their appearance tells a different story.

My issue with the Nina Simone casting, was her skin tone and African features was a huge part of her story, my understanding is some of her songs are even about her struggles as a dark skinned, kinky haired, wide nosed black woman in white racist society. If that is the case, the casting just doesn't make sense, nina's look was a huge part of her life and story.

Not to mention the lengths the are going to , prosthetic facial features and face paint just so she can look the part, seem so ridiculous when you think about how they could have just chosen someone with those features.
