F**K! I think I have heartburn now. Ever since I took aspirin earlier this week, I feel this burn in my throat and upper chest area when I eat certain foods. First I had to eat more to get my sugar levels up, now I can't eat certain things. Bump this mess-- I am just going on a liquid diet.

I am too tired to back track in this thread, there should be cliff notes for this one
In regards to mothers of 1 child - was it your choice to only have one child or were there other factors involved?

(Marah, you posted that you had reproductive problems, but if that wasn't an issue, would you have had more?)

The reason I ask is that right now hubby & I have a 20-month old, with talk about fostering/adoption but in the future.

While talking about it the other night, I had to level with my husband and tell him that I'm simply not ready for another child right now, and I'm not sure when I will be ready. Although I reserve the right to change my mind, at this point in time, on Friday, January 20, 2012, I actually don't want any more children.

I hope that doesn't make me sound selfish. But I always said I didn't want any more children than I can afford... not just monetarily but most importantly, emotionally. I believe financially we can handle it, but I'm afraid that I don't have the emotional capability to "share" myself with another child right now. I would hate to bring another child into this world (or our home) and he or she feel unloved or unwanted.

Ah... I'm rambling so maybe I should stop right here. But to recap: to the mothers of just 1 child, what was your reasoning?

With all of this talk, I asked hubby if he wanted to adopt a child he said, "would I have to give up golf? I'm just starting to get good at golf."

Are there any classes that you could take that are along the same lines of people that study abroad? I know many people that studied abroad in other countries and knew very little of the national language. Is there any chance that you could get into those types of classes or is that not an option?

Also, now that I was thinking about it, those types of classes are usually just general education stuff which you probably already have credits for? And I know in France college education is really competitive with the Grandes Ecoles and all. Blah

Goodluck!

I have an AAS in Culinary Arts and then another 2 years of college credits for a B.ed in Family and Consumer Science Education with a minor in French but NONE of these credits would transfer here. It's because for the BA in Modern Literature there is no filler classes. No photography, science of plants, nada. I don't know if this is the norm in France but all of the classes I take every semester will be associated with my major and nothing else. So I would start 3 years of school at year 1 with no chance of finishing sooner.

And for those who are wondering what I could do with a degree in Modern Literature:

1) Journalism. I have a food background so food writing is something I can do as well as cultural work.
2) Teach either French and French Literature OR German. I would have to learn another language and spend 1 year abroad for this degree and because I already have English it would be German.
3) Translate or Interpreter
4)Work in an embassy or cultural area.
5) Get a Masters in another area that utilizes my French background and open another list of jobs.
6) Branch of into International relations

I've thought this through and if I had continued my education degree back at home I would have only been able to teach in my country and would have had to start everything else from the beginning once again. I want to do something I love and that would give me options to grow and branch out into different areas. My parents think I'm a dreamer and I should find a REAL job when I leave France and finish my education degree but I stopped school for 3 years(4 now that I'm here) because I didn't want to be in a field I didn't love. I ended up doing that just with education and right now at my age I can't afford to settle with a degree I don't want. I know someone who has and they're miserable.

I'm not obsessed: I just LOVE my hair!!

I know I am sounding real stannish right now, but that damn Naptural85 is a genius! All this time, allllllllllll this time I tried over and over to keep some twists in my head. I will spend a good half a day twisting, go to sleep, then wake up to frizzy ass, half unraveling hair that looked two weeks old in one night. I tried gel, wet twists, dry twists... same results. Always had to take them down after 2 days.

Then this chick posts a video on how she does hers and I tried it and sure enough the bad boys were taunt as a mutha. They wouldn't even untwist themselves without me fully unraveling them. I always wondered why her twists had crinkly/wavy look to them...

I am gonna spend this weekend doing smedium ( I ain't ready for mini yet) twists. I pray to baby jesus that they last at least 2 weeks, cause I am about to take a pair of scissors to this head and just call it a day.

I'm cutting my hair. It no longer fits into my life. I can't keep planning my workouts around my wash schedule. I want to be able to sweat my ass off during my workout and wash it without having to factor in drying time and my schedule. Not to mention...i just want a change. Let's hope I don't chicken out. I'm calling Salon Revive tomorrow.

Later that day though, everything felt like fire going down.

Thanks for the info... for some reason I could find anything on how long it may last. Messed up my dang on Thai food tonight, coulda saved money

Im an only and it was lonely at times growing up. I had first cousins but they were jealous of me because i was my grandparents favorite. I begged my mom for a sibling but it never happened. I got over it but i am kind of jealous of people who have that sisterbff. Plus as my mom gets older and she has health problems and i know i will have to carry the responsibilty of seeing after her all alone. I live hours away. Have u considered adopting or foster care? I know people who do that. Dont jews have something similar to Catholic Social Services. My friend's brother and his wife adopted through them

At first I was thinking of waiting til the spring to cut my hair but honestly, I'm only wearing buns 90% of the time so I might as well cut it and rock something cute and funky!

I don't think I am making the plunge just yet-ONLY because I want it to be permanent. Right now I can put my hair in a ponytail/bun... not a puff, but an actual ponytail? Man, that is the lazy girl's dream! For me though, my hair is my accesory and if it is not done, I don't even bother dressing up lol. So I feel obligated to do my hair at least once a week.

With that cut, I cannot, I repeat, CANNOT go through that growing out phase. Too much work. So I want to be ready to keep that cut and shape forever. Imma go in for my trim, probably get it blown out and see if that appeases me. If I still feel strongly about, think I am going to aim for the spring, with color in the summer.
Let me know if you do it though! I may need the extra push...
