We all know Disney was racist. Obviously they are continuing the legacy cause they still making racist crap. But I don't think sock monkeys are. If you search hard enough, anything can be seen as racist. Just cause people called black people monkeys doesn't mean all monkeys are a knock to us. How about curious george? Is that racist too? I've had plenty of white people call their kids "little monkeys". Why? Cause monkeys make loud noises and swing around wildly on trees. Not cause they think they're "acting black". Sometimes it's just reaching. I mean the Lion King was my movie for like 30 seconds until I realized how fcuked up it was. I won't let my kids watch it. But all lions aren't racist pieces of crap, just cause the ones in the movie were. Maybe I'm just not that sensitive......

I hate that when Disney movies make "bad" characters, they're always dark, "ghetto", and trying to get something they don't deserve. Even in the princess and the frog where most of the characters where already black, the bad guy was even darker and a hot azz mess. Disney also has way too many sexual overtones for small children. Not overt stuff they will instantly get, but stuff that after so much exposure, it becomes the norm for them.

Who gets the final say when we're ranking things in the "racist" hierarchy? Personally, I'd rather accept people's feelings as valid when they say something hurts them instead of policing whether or not they have the right to be offended. If someone I know is offended by those sock puppet monkeys or whatever...well I just won't buy them a sock puppet monkey for their bday or call their kids monkeys. If someone's offended by the Lion King, I won't ask them to watch the franchise with me. No, we can't eliminate all things that offend everybody. But I can do my part in making those around me more comfortable (even if I don't understand their discomfort) and hope that they do me the same courtesy.

As far as monkeys, eff that, I love damn monkeys. I've already determined that if I had a child -their nickname is going to be spider monkey, cuz I think they are so damn cute lol.

Now apes and gorillas? That's a different story

I don't get the Lion King though, because Jeremy Irons played Scar, and he is British. I guess because he has a black mane?

It was the hyenas that got to me in The Lion King: Whoopi and Cheech played up the tomfoolery too much.
