Well I already know what's going to happen courtesy of wikipedia but everyone is talking about how good it is. I'm not sure if I should. I'm trying not to jump on the bandwagon.

You've already watched it?? I'm jealous! It's going to be a possible dissertation completion reward to myself in a couple weeks (or something to cheer me up in the face of failure!). So it was good yeah?
And damn Collins! She broke my heart!

You need to read The Song of Ice and Fire books(Game of Thrones). That **** is brutal for no good reason. I stopped reading because it just started to get stupid with the killings.

I'd still read it. Movie was awesome, but clearly made for the reader. The significance of certain symbols and relationships weren't totally explained, so I would've had tons of questions if I hadn't read the book..,

They're just spandex shorts so you pull em down. They do have a snap thing in the crouch area that you undo but I just pull em down.

Trying not to get too spoilery....
I really liked it, aside from the camera motion. I felt a little motion sickness in the beginning, like Blair Witch.
One important relationship wasn't explained to my satisfaction in the movie, so I'd still read the book, especially since it's an easy one day read.
I also just woke up from a nightmare where I was fighting my boyfriend to the death. That series sticks with me. Oddly enough, he called me to tell me that I was in the local paper right when we were starting our last battle.

I'm really excited! I'm going tonight.
SPOILER (for anyone that hasn't read the books! even though theoretically it's something that *has* to happen)

SPOILER!!!
I'm really interested to know how they did Rue's death scene. I've read that most film makers try to stay away from brutal child murders. They would also have to stay within the PG13(?) rating... without taking away from the book. It's something I've thought about since I heard they were making a film version. I guess they are all kids but she's the youngest and portrayed in such a positive light (unlike the some of the others).

The death scene was handled well. I cried and cried. The immediate after effect was something I don't recall, and my book is on loan so I can't check. It made sense in context, added a bit to the story for me, and it made me keep on crying.
ETA. I should just start a spoilery movie thread in non hair so I'm not junking up many other threads.

It's like a remix Of the lottery and battle royale. So it's not that unique of a story line but still a good read.

Yeah, I thought Battle Royale too. The political aspects of HG do seem to fit the US though.
I started a movie thread in non hair if anyone wants to chime in.
