The New & Improved Say It I Dare You

Thanks ladies for your views on this.. I asked this question because Wile isn't the first white or black person say that they thought Trayvon was a thug. Some said "thug" directly.. others said "hoodlum" ..others say.. "up to no good". It stemmed from a conversation I had with some people (racially mixed group) discussing Geraldo's comments about how black males are perceived.

I guess I just get tired of certain people acting like what some black people do is a reflection on how every black person would act, is, or responds. Like the whole angry black woman thing. Just because some black women seem to fit a certain stereotype.. other black women that may just voice their opinion..suddenly they get called a ABW. I mean look how they trashed Michelle Obama with that term.. I mean Michelle Obama ? Come on.. you couldn't GET further away from the idea of someone being an ABG than her yet she got labeled that... I'm not mad at white people or anything. I'm just so frustrated with all this racial animosity. And my husband told me..that I shouldn't really be surprised at all how this thing is playing out.. because it's only revealing the truth of how things really still are in this country. How black people and white folks really aren't as "cozy" as some would like to believe and these incidents just prove that point. But he said we have this thing in America where people like to pretend.. basically smile in eachothers faces but thinking negative racial things about the other. IE: white folks not really thinking blacks are their equal or black folks thinking a white person is just waiting to do them in. Yet they drink coffee together at work, say hi to one another, talk small talk..but they don't want your kid dating theirs.

I haven't encountered any white folks or non blacks who disagree with me or have indicated Martin was a thug...well Wilee something from here called him a thug but she doesn't count in my book.

Even in my office the older white women were expressing their displeasure in this whole situation. They were fussing today because his family hasn't had his facebook and email shutdown because the media only wants to make him be a gangster (their words lol).

The hispanics in my office won't touch the subject though.

Shrinkage happens.
I have a question for you ladies (specifically the women of color here..meaning if you are black or mixed with black..sorry if that's disrespectful but I wanted it answered by a certain group).

Here is my question.. Do you find yourself getting upset, angry, holding it against, or disliking a white person (or other) that thinks black men are "thugs" ? Or do you think those feelings are somewhat understandable and justifiable to a certain extent ? Why or Why not ?

I ask this because of this Trayvon Martin thing. I know people think this boy was just a little thug headed for trouble in life with his school suspensions, the pot, the attacking the bus driver, that his book bag contained some women's jewelry and a screwdriver (which had been labeled as a burgarly tool). And I know that many people (many whites..but some blacks and others too) think young black men in particular are typically doing something criminal or borderline immoral. I do realize there is a lot of issues in the black community and it's not as cut and dry as that..but the fact of the matter is that is how a lot of "others" see black males in society.

I wish is wasn't like that but I guess I don't find myself angry anymore (yes..sad and disappointed but not angry) when white people (or others) say it. I just try to understand why they've developed this feeling and be understanding about it. I feel very odd about it all. I just wondered how other people of color (specifically black folks or mixed with black) feel about it.

This whole Trayvon Martin thing has just been very upsetting for me. Not just because it's another young black man/boy killed but because of the way the case was handled especially and the strife and mixed emotions about race and equality it causes. And now some are saying Zimmerman is a Jew..so you know I'm all jacked up.

I'm not gonna lie, except my mother, doesn't mean I'm going to be rude to them, but I will not be surprised when they let something slip, it's very disappointing....its like "damn I wanted to like them", but it happens...ALL, the time to me. It hasn't happened recently to me cause I don't go out anymore, or socialize other than work, so now I don't hear it. (You would be surprised what white people let slip out of their mouths when they think black people aren't around, you know cause I don't' count, I'm "mexican" or "Hawaiian" or "oh her moms white she does't count" -girl) Except seeing people's the south will rise again shirts....what does it mean if I wear one? I want to be a slave, when the south rises? I mean why would the south rise again? I want to ask someone this...but I don't think they'll know either, cause they're stupid.

come on down to the dirrrrty south, we'll show you a good ol' time.
I'm sorry but the media hypocrisy and bias in this case is annoying the sh*t outta me, and that's from the side I am supporting. No one was crying when they were talking about Trayvon horseback riding and volunteering. None of this has anything to do with this child being murdered!

I don't care if the head member of the bloods/crips/national aryan brothers was getting skittles and tea and going home to watch a basketball game, and gets shot. He shouldnt have been shot!!!!

Anyway...I need to find away to leave the planet...because everyone makes me sick.
The walking dead is an excellent way to stay up late at night. I'll just start scaring myself awake. I'm watching an episode I've already seen and I'm still scared.
