I love how the majority of posters in that interracial relationships thread are WOC.

Blame it on the cell phone...

That is very sad.. but unfortunately not surprising:

"St. Mary's Health Center says its staff followed medical guidelines..

Brown went to three hospitals complaining of leg pain in the days leading up to her death, including her visit to St. Mary's that led to her arrest for trespassing. She was wheeled out in handcuffs after a doctor said she was healthy enough to be locked up.

Brown had been struggling after a series of evastating setbacks, family say."
Yeah, the guidelines say if you don't have cash or insurance, you're on your own and not worth treating. That is what happens when you treat healthcare as a for-profit business and not a human right.

she is missing OUT.

Lol, my first impression of a white person is racist until proven innocent.
I'm not gonna lie, except my mother, doesn't mean I'm going to be rude to them, but I will not be surprised when they let something slip, it's very disappointing....its like "damn I wanted to like them", but it happens...ALL, the time to me. It hasn't happened recently to me cause I don't go out anymore, or socialize other than work, so now I don't hear it. (You would be surprised what white people let slip out of their mouths when they think black people aren't around, you know cause I don't' count, I'm "mexican" or "Hawaiian" or "oh her moms white she does't count" -girl) Except seeing people's the south will rise again shirts....what does it mean if I wear one? I want to be a slave, when the south rises? I mean why would the south rise again? I want to ask someone this...but I don't think they'll know either, cause they're stupid.

come on down to the dirrrrty south, we'll show you a good ol' time.
Good points Turtles..I also think a lot more black people that don't THINK they know white people like that actually do..it's just those white people don't say those things around mixed company. So they'd never know. Like my husband said..they smile in your face and no they aren't going to say to you (a black person) what they really seriously think of blacks..please.

I've gotten sort of a pass in that area (probably like you have... I think I've seen you say that before) I think because I'm mixed and I've been told (even though I DEFINITELY look black) that I'm "different" according to certain white people. I notice certain things they'd say in front of me or ask me about that they'd never dream of saying or asking in front of black people in general. It's been quite a learning experience for me and I definitely think a lot of black people should really seriously think twice when they honestly believe they don't know ANY white people that are that way. All my life I've been privy to "white" conversations that aren't discussed around blacks and other minorities. And believe me.. a lot ofwhite Jews are no different. Given, many of them will say they feel very sorry for black people because as a Jew they feel they sort of understand being stereotyped in a negative way..JUST because they are Jewish. I don't get included in it because they regard me as Jewish and I don't "act black" (their words). I've taken many opportunities to educate/correct though.

But the stories I could tell yall would make you feel like a lot of black folks did back in the day when they watched Roots for the first time....

My hair is color damaged. I'm hoping I can salvage it but I don't know if it will ever be the same. My pen sized curls are almost all gone and now I'm left with thin barely there S-curls. I've been reading that I need to baby it for the next month and it could possible come back but I'm not sure how true that is. I did a homemade PT and then a beer rinse later in the day. My hair is styled with only Shea moisture products since they are high in protein and I will do a DC on Sunday all day. Leave it up to me to damage my hair a week before my 2yr anniversary.

I'm hoping that they will bouncce back but I don't know. My hair has never looked like this before, even after I had colored it last month. I think the bleach caused too much damage.

This is the thing with me. Martin's case has really upset me not only for the obvious reasons but because of the racial animosity that it's unleashed. It's always been there, under the surface, of course, but a sensational case like this brings out the ig'nant in all kinds of people.

I have white friends. Every time something like this happens, I always hate that I have to question my relationships with them and whether they deserve my trust. I hate having to wonder if they really regard me as equal to them and if they harbor any negative stereotypes toward me. And I hate having to wonder if my relationships with them are ever going to be worthwhile, because it's not like I can substantially change anything since I'm only one person.
