Me either, I just log off if someone is talking about something I don't give a isht about. Very rarely will I comment on something that upsets me. There was one on-going topic recently I didn't and still do not agree with...it hits too close to home so instead of hurting folks feelings and pissing others off, I just logged off.

I know your mule better have a bangin' retirement plan, because that po' thing has been worked to death for the past 40 pages of this thread
And this also makes my point about refraining from saying something... because I feel a certain way about being butt hurt by people on the internet...

I haven't (re: CurlyE's post) and I rarely ever get PM's anyway...because OBVIOUSLY nobody likes me for reasons beyond my control. It's cool though...

lol my mule is so tired. it just wants to run off into the sunset.
but contrary to popular belief, i don't like to make a habit of hurting ppl's feelings, arguing about pettiness, or "ganging up" on ppl.
i'm actually quite nice IRL.

Amneris, thank you for the background. And, to be honest, I am thinking about how much of the hypocrisy I can tolerate. In 2005 and 2006, up to today, NC advertizes that it maintains a certain type of online community. What has changed since 2005 and 2006 is that NC is now capitalizing on the investment it made all those years ago in establishing NC.com. NC is now not only an online community, but a business that markets its expertise in textured hair care research, market to consumer products, etc. In essence, by the simple fact of being a board member, one contributes to the earnings of NC.com. The personal question for me is why would I continue to support, in ultimately some financial form by my very existence as a board member (and in other ways by purchasing from Curlmart, taking surveys, and submitting product reviews) to a community that does not practice what it preaches. Healthy relationships are a two way street, mutually reinforcing...

Like @Amber said, I want to know where I stand with people. I can take a$$holes, ESPECIALLY over the damn internet, but there are people who act big and tough in "public," then cop out or break down in private. I can't get with that. If you want to throw down on the net (which honestly I don't see the point of), don't renege on it privately, or act like everything on the internet is trivial then be concerned with whether certain posters are upset with you. I cannot stand two faced people.

I think there are very few people who seem to like being mean to people, and I think that is what annoys me a little about people getting so hurt by remarks. A lot of time people read an e-tone of a comment and run with it. I know I am guilty of it. Now if someone made a personal comment--not a generalized racist/sexist etc. remark, but something that pertains directly to personal information you shared... maybe I can be a little more understanding of sending a pm, but even then I can only imagine that being acceptable if you considered someone your friend. I don't know...

I have seen it several times around here.. not neccessarily in this section as much in others but it's definitely a normative with a few constants here too. But of course it's about perception. People see what they want to see and judge people how they want regardless of what the real deal is...
I do understand "the hole my mule" concept..I think in a lot of cases it's the appropriate thing to do.
Frankly, I don't think there is enough open dialogue when there is an issue. Everybody wants everyone else to just STFU unless they in the Amen corner big upping what they say. I guess it's just not something I relate to very well. If I have a problem with something someone said.. I just say it and my ultimate desire is to hash it out so that we can be civil and not hostile to eachother.
But I notice it's difficult to do that here because a lot of people do hold grudges and have to throw constant snark at that person and then play dumb when confronted. Knowing damn well they are on swoll because they dropped the ball and punked out in the first place when they should have said something when the mess was going on but they stood by watched it ain't do shkit and now they mad. Then all late and wrong they wanna come balls to the wall cause they done built up some strength or decided "they just ain't holding their mule no more".. and I feel like.. no I can't get with that sort of dumb stuff. Sit your punk ass down some where..shoulda handled that shkit like grown folk long time ago.

I don't think I've ever sent a PM because someone offended me.
I have to disagree with the idea that it doesn't matter what someone you don't know thinks. Of course for certain things that's true, but it does have an effect on me, even indirect as it may be, that someone holds racist/sexist/etc. views. Those things affect everyone. Now I get that the odds of changing anyone are slim, but then there are people who will tell you that they did change, and it was because there were people who were willing to question and contest their views.

I didn't say it doesn't matter. If that was the case, we would never talk about anything here-- but hair lol. My words were butt hurt ( SN-- I pick up too much of the vernacular around these parts and it sounds so out of place IRL sometimes) and I think sometimes getting that invested in what an anonymous person thinks is too much IMO.

Oh, I wasn't referring to what you were saying, more so something Marah alluded to in her post.
