But where are all the Captain-Save-A-Troll posters from that previous thread tho? And this is why it sometimes just pays to hush your mouth and not come to the defense of people you don't know.

Why are people still going on and on and on about Obama and his teleprompter. So what he uses one? He doesn't have it every time he speaks. Maybe if some people ::ahemmm:: used it a little more often they wouldn't always be in the news quoted as saying something stupid.

And she even threw in an anecdote this time...I'm just SO baffled. It's been explained multiple times, in multiple ways, from multiple people, and I swear she has an e-force field up to keep it from seeping into her brain, working itself out, and making sense.

It's in reference to me ---- it's the usual crowd going after me for insisting on my right to speak on the Trayvon Martin thread.

And it's unbelievably hateful.
Oh yea.. I read that Jo Somebody posted this and I have to be Mrs (I'm murried) Run Tell Dat..cause I know some of yall don't venture out of 4a

Having recently entered into a racial debate in another group which soon descended into a full scale online row, I now try to avoid racial debates because I've come to realize that debating is just another derailing tactic.

There is nothing to debate. Racism exists. It’s widespread. It’s a problem. It's not as bad as white folks think because it's actually much, much worse. So if you come across a white person who wants to argue, cloud the issue, split hairs then you've reached the end of the conversation - period. It's not your job to convert people. They have to choose to either be a decent human being or to support the racist colonialist system that exists. Establish these boundaries immediately and stick to them. If they ask you if you really do experience racism, ask them why they're asking you that. If they start with lines like, "I can't imagine," "I refuse to believe," "I just don't see," end the conversation.

Racial Discussion Is Not an "Exchange" of Ideas. One of the popular lines from white people who talk about race online is, "This is why we need to have these conversations more often." My version is : "We've already been having this conversation. We've been having it for centuries. You just didn't want to listen, and you still don't. So if we're going to do this, it's going to start with your listening. This isn't about what we can learn from each other - this is about you learning from me, and you're already behind by four centuries. There are no two ways about it. It is non-negotiable. If that hurts your feelings or bruises your ego, then admit to yourself now that you are weak and/or not cut out for this."

Do Not End Racial Discussions on a Positive Note.If white people end racial discussions on an optimistic note, they stop thinking about what they were hearing about only moments earlier. They're happy. They feel absolved and they tell themselves that things will eventually work themselves out. They're not motivated to do anything. That's why they have to leave these discussions bothered, troubled and deeply perturbed. They need to hear and see the worst. We don't get a slow, gentle, candy-coated introduction to the pains of racism. Never have. White folks shouldn't get to either.

White ppl have had 400 years to "get it" and their performance so far has been abysmal. What leads to many black people’s frustration is most of us operate under the misguided notion that intelligence is all someone needs to learn something. Learning, in fact, requires additional components to intelligence, like consistent practice, research, recall, overall self-discipline, and a need for the absolute truth of things. White privilege conditions much of this out of most white people by the time they hit puberty.

Some of you call it being patient or being the bigger person. F**K THAT. You don't need white people to like you - if they cross the line, make them uncomfortable. Remember white people BELIEVE YOU when you come with that sweet talk. They BELIEVE YOU when you laugh off their racism. We have already overcome and survived a lot in this world and we did so without the support from white people. Many of us were tortured and killed...and WE'RE STILL HERE. So do not doubt your worth or tone down your voice or temper your strength. So if you're being dehumanized socially, assert yourself and walk way. If you're being dehumanized occupationally or academically...LEGAL ACTION.

DON'T EVER LET THEM PUNK YOU !!

Tolerance is a ******** term and black people need to stop tolerating from hereon out, online and in real life.

Hey Gretchen,

I actually don't think you can help this one (and it's not your fault, it's okay) - my post was in reference to a poster who simply cannot understand why it's inappropriate for her to counter discussions of racism against black people with her experiences as a white person (of PoC wronging her, or how hard her life is/has been), and thinks that people are trying to misunderstand her on purpose and exhibit bias towards her, when that's...just not the case. It's just inappropriate. If the discussion/thread was about general prejudice, or about prejudice towards white people, her posts would be totally fine and warranted. Several posters, across races, have attempted to explain it to her, with no avail.

However, her posts are not (always) directly inflammatory, and she is entitled to her own perception of the world, no matter how skewed I, or others on the board, may think it is. I don't agree with it, but it is her right.

I believe this is one of those instances where we're just going to have to let it go. We tried, and she isn't really breaking board rules as far as I know. Thank you for inquiring about it though. I appreciate it.

ETA: And by her above post and insisting that we are being hateful, once again, it proves that she just doesn't get it. Sad really.

I think there's a bunch of hatefulness going around, and I think we'd all like to get to a place where we don't need that. If we could start now . . .

Let me know when you see it and we'll squash it.

Thanks again for all your help, ladies. We really are so grateful.

Yeah well calling the "usual crowd" the b word and jackals was hateful too but I see you managed to handle that hate spewing though didn't you.

I can't with the constant victim act...yet now they just want peace after they have royally showed their natural behind and done all the ignorant, no good, low down dirt they wanted to do with no consequences...but everyone else should understand their truth.

Yeah..she needs to have a stadium of seats.
Usually, if I feel like someone hates me, I don't follow them around attempting to provoke them.

I'm 99.9% sure you're trying to provoke folks in here so someone will tell you ALL about yourself, and you can report them and try to have them banned.

Not gonna be me - at this point, I don't even have any anger towards you, I just can't, shan't, and won't with you.

I can't believe we're calling folks out for "liking" posts now. We shouldn't quote the actual words that people write....but we can hound them about clicking a button?
