Hummus is just chickpeas, tahini, garlic, lemon, and salt. Well, and baking soda for extra tender chickpeas. That's the basic deal. The most expensive thing there is the tahini, and if you buy it, a jar will give you a lot of batches of hummus. If you make it, it's even cheaper because sesame seeds are cheap.
The zaatar is a topping, and you don't need it, but it's really good on top with some olive oil, as are Aleppo and sumac (which is in some zaatar).

This sounded awesome until I got to the za'atar. For some reason, it tastes like a tomb to me.

Siri types my posts for me.
You need really fresh stuff. A lot of people make their own with thyme and sesame seeds. I like Syrian zaatar a lot. It has plenty of sumac, so it's more red than green and has a nice tang. We have a Jordanian mix at work that also has sumac, though not as much as my Syrian one did.

This was a Syrian one since my Syrian ex husband made it. It was the only thing in his cooking repertoire that I hated.

Heh, fair enough. I'm surprised the tang of the sumac didn't liven it up for you, though (because I have found some zaatar that could be described as having the problem you mentioned).

I feel kind of mean, but I have a FB friend whose baby posts pretty much make me cringe. They are not cute (the posts she makes, I mean)!

I lerve mine garlicky. I made some years back and maybe because I didn't have tahini it was just tolerable and I didn't like the lemon taste that the recipe called for. So Saria if I grind up my sesame seeds I have tahini?

Just found a recipe and I have all the ingredients of course. Has anybody conquered quinoa yet? I have a container of it and tried two recipes that I wasn't feeling. I have the black kind.

Yes. Toast them and use a spice (coffee) grinder or a really good blender. Grind with enough oil to make a paste. The coffee grinder can do it without oil, but a little oil helps.
It will not be quite as smooth as the stuff in stores since that's made with hulled seeds, but it does have stronger sesame flavor.

As for quinoa, first you have to make sure to give it a good wash to remove the saponin so it doesn't taste like soap.
I like cooking it like pilaf for a nice fluffy end result.
Here's an example of the pilaf method:
http://www.101cookbooks.com/archives...ni-recipe.html

Or cook it in plenty of water like pasta. Drain it when it's done, rinse, and then you can use it any way you want.

http://www.bonappetit.com/recipes/2012/01/quinoa-fennel-and-pomegranate-salad

Try this. It's hard to go wrong with breakfast porridge:

You can use coconut milk and sweetener of choice instead.

It's not mean, just honest, and I know how you feel. Most of my friends have more than one child so most of their posts are, "My kid(s) did this...my kid(s) is/are so that..." I start to wonder if kids really become all you talk about once you have them, or if it's just certain people who can't stop posting/talking about their kids. Ah well, I guess that's why you can "hide" certain people's posts.

Ummm so my paycheck is wrong. I. Did not receive my retro pay nor my bonus so who do I talk to Human Resources or District Manager so that I can get this matter solved and guaranteed that all money will reflect in my next check. This really effed me up cause I have to take out the first half of rent, fill up the tank with gas, and pay my electric bill that is already late, and half of my car note. To be honest I really want to just go to HR because I am kinda over my DM.

UPDATE: Man my ma told me what to do. I would hate to get on my mother's bad side with a work related issue. She was so calm telling me what to do and didn't even curse but how she said everything was like this undertone of don't mess with my daughter's money or its about to get raw up in here. Like it was her money. She was like they should rectify the issue between 48-72 hours

I was told it is. As I didn't care for the book, I'm not planning on seeing the movie.

Well, it's just I don't want to be one of those people who gets annoyed over how much parents fall in love with their kids.
I like kids, and the friends I have post great updates about them that I enjoy reading. But that's not the only thing they post about, and more importantly, they still write normally, rather than in a baby "voice" like this friend does.
