What is the best way to test a product and really know how it made your hair feel? The products I've been using seem to be ok but when I hear reviews it seems like people are getting better/more apparent results than me

I shampoo my hair so that it is totally clean and no other products or buildup is keeping the new product from showing me what it can really do. Then I follow the instructions OR follow what I've been reading/seeing most other people do with the product. And THEN if it doesn't work, I just chalk it up to all those other chick's been cold dead liars and throw the product in the trash.

I agree that sometimes hair needs to be freshly washed to truly test out a product. This way you know that the product isn't being negatively affected by buildup or chemicals in other products that you use.

Also, if your hair still doesn't respond to other products the way some people's hair does, I wouldn't worry about it. Everyone's hair is different. Your hair may not "like" the product.

I'm sorry, I've just been a lil bitter lately when it comes to natural hair (bloggers and vloggers who act like somethin is 24kt gold and tell everbody to buy it, mainly newbies who don't know any better, only to find out months later that same reviewer doesn't even use the product or theyre selling it on their site) and I'm just havin a shade party. I used to think oh I guess this product doesn't work for everybody only to notice HEY, how cOme you and Keisha and Tasha and Renee all started talkin about this same product by this little known company allllll at the same time? Oh that's right, cuz you're gettin paid and even though you know it's garbage you're gonna pump it up anyway because cuz momma needs a new pair of Toms to go along with her new bohemian image. Miss me wit that.

No need to be sorry. I apologize if my comment rubbed you the wrong way. This is the Say It Thread, let it all hang out!!! I understand about the shady promotion tactics and if you would kindly PM me the blogs/videos of these trifling heifers, I would be much obliged.

I use the product the same way I use similar products that I'm already using (meaning I'd use a athletes over my leave in or whatever). If it doesn't fit into my already established regimen, I don't want it. I don't have time to be doing the hokey pokey for ONE product. I don't really care how well it works alone, I care about how it works as a part of my regimen.

No your comment didn't rub me the wrong way. I hope I didn't sound offended, I can come off angry when I'm really not lol. Im not mad about the stuff people are doing, but I do feel some type of way about it. I don't have names right off the top of my head, and Im sure I'm one of few who really thinks this because I am always going off about some conspiracy or another lol

But yes, when people rave and rave about a product, even something handmade in someone's kitchen, and I have crappy results, I do have a tendency to think they either aren't being truthful, or they really don't know what "moisturized" hair feels and theirs is probably dreaded up in revolt just like mine after using it and they just can't tell the difference. Like when people STAY swearing up and down that such and such shampoo left their hair moisturized and soft. Riiiiiiiight. Suuuuuure.

I learned that "soft" and "moisturized" mean very different things to different ppl when this girl I knew kept raving about how some oil moisturized her hair and made it soft. I touched, and it felt like a great brillo pad. I always what it felt like without the oil...
