Anyway, I just discovered coconut oil & aloe Vera gel. I'm in love. This stuff should keep me straight during my economic set backs.

Everything in moderation?
One of the best combos for kinky hair ever discovered. Yep, if I ever hit financial ruin, a bottle of whole leaf Aloe Vera Gel and some Nutiva will keep my hair on my head.
Can it work on any type of textured hair ? I have both those products right now. Like how do you use them together ? I might be able to use coconut oil now since I've made my hair a little more porous. It seems to be accepting moisture much better now. Please explain. Because since I get horrible headaches from most scented products I've tried my product use is limited (and plus I'm cheap). But I adore the way natural coconut oil smells and aloe vera gel barely seems to have any major scent.

I ordered a whole bunch of Oyin Handmade from that sale and I'm waiting for my order to arrive. I hope to goodness the smells aren't too strong for me because I've been wanting to use Oyin for a LONG time now.
Oyin has some strong scents imo. But the hair dew is good stuff. I use the coconut oil on wet hair after tresemme (sp?) naturals. Then I later the aloe Vera gel. I towel blot because sometimes I use too much coconut oil & get white water droplets. I need tons of moisture daily so I get heavy handed.

Everything in moderation?

It can, if you don't have issues with coconut oil and aloe. My hair likes both...alone. I mix them together...a dab of coconut oil and a dollop aloe gel, in my hand and apply it to my twists to add moisture and softness. I've also actually twisted with it.

I like the CO Aloe mix better than Shealoe. I would say my hair is probably normal porosity, since I cut off all my "heatlaxed" hair (damage).

I spend a lot on hair products, but I can always go minimalist, if I need to. While I love scent, I sometimes appreciate products that don't have much scent, or the scent comes from the natural smell of the ingredients rather than added fragrance.

Thanks NEA and Sienna. I am definitely going to try this out. I hope it works for me. I'd have to use it for a wash n go because I don't do anything else with my hair.

Sienna.. now you have me scared about the Oyin products. I did order the Hair Dew. I hope this wasn't a mistake to order all these Oyin products. But maybe I will like the smells. The worst for me are those heavily synthetic perfumey smells..I was under the impression Oyin didn't have that sort of scent.

Oyin scents don't smell like synthetic perfumes. They can be a bit strong, though.

It works better than it smells. I use it to refresh. The coconut oil & aloe vera combo makes my wash n gos pop. I haven't tried it on twists yet.

Good luck keeny

I love romance and erotica if it's well written. It doesn't have to be amazing literary prose, but complete sentences, correct comma placement, and spell check go a loooong way.

To be frank, I can see a lot of women identifying with this twit Ana and that's the main reason these books are selling. I think even today in 2012 a lot of women are much less evolved than they like to pretend..as far as in intimate relationships with men. So the fact that it was poorly written doesn't amount to much on that front.

I recently read "Bared To You". It's somewhat similiar to 50 Shades and will be a trilogy as well. It's much better written by a seasoned writer: Sylvia Day. It's pretty intense and I'd say if a person is triggered by sexual abuse issues they should avoid it. I'm hoping the other 2 books will be good. People are getting pissy about it though because they are saying it's a 50 Shades rip off (it's not but typical from fans that have eaten that book with a spoon). The lead female character is annoying (I guess in that endearing way..LOL) but no where near as bad as Ana...yet.
You know that I'm getting that book now. Marah always reads the good stuff

But really the female lead is terrible. Weak, idiotic, vapid, and downright stupid. And that's just the 1st chapter. If that is a representation of women then how low have we fallen to enjoy such dribble.

I wish I would have taken a different path...I like learning but the way this program is set up is not for me! I wish I could have set up one of those "make your own degree" things.

You know a lot of romance novels are written that way though especially back in the day. As time has gone on we've seen an influx of stronger female leads in romance novels which I appreciate.. but I think that old formula is what a lot of "the audience" prefers. Weak woman that needs some over bearing borderline stalkerish alpha male to either rescue, tame, control, lead, or all of the above her. I mean I don't mind the "traditional" idea of romance novels per se..but I like some sort of balance with the female lead where she's not so darn pathetic.

As far as Bared To You is concerned.. you might not enjoy it. The relationship between the lead characters is really sort of nuts. And both of them are effed up. I actually like the angst between them though so I'm curious how it will all turn out in the end once more is revealed about Gideon Cross (the lead male). It couldn't possibly be worse than the bs in the 50 Shades trilogy.

As soon as I saw this woman describe her hair as 3c, I went straight to the comments! LOL. I don’t care about hair typing, I actually like it because it gives me and idea or point of reference of what would work on my hair when I see someone with the same hair type. But this woman is clearly NOT 3c. She either meant to say 4c or is lying to herself because she doesn’t want to accept that fact that her hair is in the 4 category. That is her problem, not mine by simply correcting her based on the tons of information I have read on hair typing.

Grrr!! Listen. If you're going to start a 'sale or swap' thread, don't take forever to get back to the people making you offers. And if you've already sold something, update your thread so we know!!
