My 5yr old neice just came in fussing with her dad about our pool. Here is the conversation:

Neice: I don't want to come in yet, I can swim by myself, I'm responsible.
Her Dad: No, you need someone outside to supervise.

I had a wonderful time at the Curly Nikki meetup. She is so sweet and a tiny little thing. Lexie With The curls was there too. mizani was the sponsor and gave away samples including supreme oil. They also had stylists on hand doing demos and answering questions.they gave great advice. I got to practice a senegalese twist!! So much beautiful hair. NOLA has a lot of naturals anyway.

And congrats Keeny!!!!

I get finger printed for my new job this month. I understand that I'll be working with kids and they don't want shady folks ruining their rep....but I don't want my prints all up in a secret FBI database or something It's not enough to make me pass up the opportunity. But it does turn me off some.
lol i didn't even think about it b/c i've been fingerprinted multiple times already, for different positions.

i kind of feel better knowing that my info will pop up in some system somewhere if i ever end up in some jane doe situation lol. i'm all up in the federal datatbases b/c of my PO internship.

This made me think of the recent Frank Ocean letter and how many of the (white) gay folks on my fb newsfeed were talking about a new victory on the battlefield for gay rights...or something lol.

I wonder if that's true. Idk how the "rap/ rnb community" as a whole responded to Ocean's letter. I don't follow rap. But if it is true and musically inclined black folks are getting with the (gay) program....it's funny that they still embrace SO MUCH colorism and misogyny. As evidenced by above gif and many of the songs that I just hear in passing.

I mean, how can anyone REALLY love oppressed groups outside of their own in-group if they can't even recognize their own oppression? And their own role IN their oppression.
