Great summary Marah I didnt even remember some of that. But I do remember when Kimmaytube posted that screen shot of AE's email where AE (jokingly) asked Kimmaytube to bring her with her when she made it to the top. That was too funny.

I thought the whole mess was petty because it all started because AE made a video about vloggers ethics on YT. In my mind I thought she was talking about blackonyx and others, and in no way referenced Kimmy. Taren then made a reply vid. But I know Kimmy lurkers so it got to her that she was being talked about and it went from there. But that's my view point. Not a Taren fan, but I'm subscribed to AE because I like her style and her vids.

Kimmy blocked me because in her review vid for KCCC and Ecostyler I believe she quoted the price for the 16oz jar and not the 8oz. I commented that she should have suggested the 8oz price for viewers who wanted to try it, and I did not like it because of how it made my hair feel. I said nothing about her but my comment was deleted and I was blocked. Afterwards I found out of NC and read some of the comments about her. I have to agree with most of them. But she makes her money so what can you do.

Yeah..the whole thing was silly. But my mind IMMEDIATELY went to Kimmaytube when I heard Taren's video. And frankly, I think it speaks for itself considering Taren's other comments in her rants...

Not surprised that you got blocked and deleted. A lot of people have complained that Kim either blocked them or deleted their comments. They even went so far as to say she rigs her contests so that only her butt kissers can win.

I just finished watching that mess and a few times I actually laughed out loud. I couldn't believe this woman is being for real. That one part where she snubs the "little" companies for having the audacity to step to her!! They should go after the up and coming vloggers because she is too big for that. Yet she says in the video that she's not arrogant. PAH-LEASE.

Sorry. But I don't trust her saying she never gives a good review because she's getting paid. Especially if she's doing this full time and she gives the option of not being paid and not posting a video if the review is bad. I mean when her rent is due do I really believe she will give a bad review? No. And comparing herself to celebrity endorsements? Huh.

I may have a slightly different outlook because my job forbid us from endorsing companies or even accepting "free gifts". I was contacted twice recently by a well known skin care company I know was fishing for an endorsement. I had no intention of doing it but I showed the letter to my boss and he made it clear it needed to go in the garbage. The reason we can't do this is because we have to always give the impression of being honest and unbiased so people trust what we're saying. If I were her I'd be careful about attaching my name to the highest bidder because that can come back to bite you. Once you ruin your reputation that's usually it. Heck people are still talking about Debbie Allen and Rio. T has lost all credibility with me.

edit: plus why doesn't she just become one of those paid spokespersons like Lexi does for Nothing But?

Maybe probably no one has seriously approached her yet for a long term gig in which she could get paid on the regular JUST for doing that ? She seems to have few ventures that she's gotten because of her visibility on YT and she gets free stuff..like trips and products, and she gets paid for certain things she reviews and ads for on YT. I think this is why she's so nuts over Anthony Dickey because he's provided her with opportunities.

Look..she's a single mother of 3 young children. Just looks to me like she's trying to get her full hustle on and trying to find ways that she can stay around home base and still get paid. That was her whole thing with that power/electricity pyramid business. She didn't seem to ever make that secret..so I almost expect a rant video like she made this time around.

If that's what she wants to do, make money from doing reviews, that's cool. I just know not to watch. Me viewing shouldn't matter if there are thousands of people that will continue to watch anyway.

And to be clear, I'm not talking about YouTube paying the people to make the videos. I already know that they do that and I don't see a huge issue with that. To me there is a big difference between getting paid by YouTube, who puts ads on the vloggers videos, and getting paid by a company to review their product/merchandise. I think people are conflating the two and it's annoying me.lol The trust is negatively impacted when you know a vlogger is getting paid to "review" a product, and that is a natural response. IDK how that isn't understood.

Right now I'm reading the comments to the video (go ahead and judge me.lol It's a slow day at work) and a lot of people keep comparing these YouTube vlogers to celebrities getting endorsements, and I just don't see it the same way. I mean, I understand that there may be similarities/parallels/whatever else have you, but that doesn't mean it's the same thing. I think a lot of those commenters who are making those arguments are basing it off the assumption that people don't know that celebrities get paid for those endorsements. I don't think that's true.

At the end of the day, I don't have to agree with it but I'm not going to go out of my way to disrespect the vloggers. I just think this is an interesting topic and I wanted to throw out my virtual two pennies.
