Wasn't trying to say it's not a problem at all. Obviously I made a gross underestimation but was just trying to make a point. (#fail.lol) I agree that if a company can't pacify the customers appropriately or uphold quality and good customer service, it can be devastating to any business. And especially so for the small or new starting businesses. I don't disagree with anything that has been said.

I still think it's one of the "better problems", but that's not an excuse to be lacking in quality, consistency or customer service. Having a lot of demand could work in their favor if they maintain the above and take steps to grow with the demand. Isn't that the point of business? To grow and be successful. I know not every small company may have the desire to be on Walmart level.

Coco...no worries. The comments coilynapp and I shared weren't necessarily meant for you. They're meant for those who may be thinking about launching a product line, and they may not grasp how very important it is to manage growth....and have a game plan if your product line takes off.

That's all...wasn't meant to make you feel like your response was a "fail".

Thanks NEA.lol

I just wanted to be more clear. That's what I get for trying to participate in online discussions while I'm working (or supposed to be).

For instance, when QB was making the moringa conditioner, she tested it on her test group before launching it. When she launched, people didn't like the scent and that it was in a jar, so she changed those two things. Those were coincidental--she didn't test the conditioner on the customers who bought it--I don't think she got these two things in the test group...although I don't know how they could have missed it.

You test the product on a test group--even CK did this IIRC. You don't release and then wait for people to say something and then change the formulation. See all these companies changing formulas all over the place...that's bad business.
I get what you're saying. Scent is something that's not major to me, though. The overall formulation of your product needs to be set...unmoveable when you launch. That I 100 percent agree with.

QB also changed the scent of the twisting butter, I believe, after it was released...correct me. Customers complained about the scent of her spritz, after it was released.
Oh yea, I forgot about those two items from QB. Yes, she did change them. But yes, not the formula. Scent is very easily interchangeable without impact on formulation. But the point is even with larger companies, they test first before launch. Nothing should be happening after launch.

NEA you should be paid the way you led the flock to bask at the hair show. I think its time for the natural hair industry to get together. I hope they are at those hair shows exchanging best practices. They can all come to a conclusion on where vloggers, bloggers, & prominent hair board members fall & what they are generally worth.

I think this industry has so many opportunities, particularly for women of color, to become successful entrepreneurs from manufacturing to promotion. I hope the "crabs in a barrel" effect doesn't take over.

Sis, let me tell you how THAT went down. Me, Shawny, Nappy_Curly_Crown and Naturalista were in the hotel restaurant, talking about b.a.s.k YAM, Friday afternoon, before the meetup. Some ladies, who had never HEARD of b.a.s.k overheard our conversation...we can get all "dreamy" and intense, when we talk hair products. We talked that stuff up, like it was hair ALCHEMY, and it is.

The next day, I was having breakfast, and the two ladies came up to me, mentioned that they'd overhead the conversation, and wanted to know about this "amazing conditioner" we were talking about. There you have it. But the talk of that stuff, on the hair boards, made it happen. I think Rashida sold out the first day.

Also, we did a lot of "PR" in the line, waiting for the show to begin.

Haha! So this means we should expect our cut in the mail.

Of course I'm kidding, but I'm reading all this Taren mess and sensing that all this immaturity is fueled by greed and an overinflated sense of self and entitlement. IA with everyone that this makes her seem all the more ridiculous. She's lucky that her business model isn't YouTube's bc then she wouldn't even have a platform to fill up with garbage.

Back to Atlanta. Man we had such a good time and we definitely did dish about goodies. We ended up fighting through folk to get to BASK off of that too. It was funny but fun. I was happy to talk about a product I actually believe in. Keeping it real? Priceless.

I had a good time at the hair show dinner & waiting in various lines. I guess that's what's important. Do what you love for free & it will pay off in the end.

I'm cashing out

I've applied to so many jobs I've lost count. No bites. I've contacted a few hospitals about volunteering and I can't get no help with that either! *sigh* At least I have a some other things planned to occupy some of my time on my semester off.

Hopefully my mom can hook me up. That would be cool.
