My sister perms her new growth every 5 weeks...period, no if's and's but's about it. 3-4 weeks in she is complaining about her new growth and I understand what she means. Some people don't like the "feel" nor the look of new growth. Others find it difficult to handle and freak out. What boogles me is those who have been transitioning for over a year and are stillllll complaining.

why are folks always worried about why someone else's hair isn't growing (despite the fact that they're clearly keeping it that length on purpose) when they haven't been able to pass SL for two years themselves?! throwing shade will not help your hair grow, boo.
not everyone is on a freaking growth journey.

I know a few ladies who freak out over their "nappy edges" and believe me they are NOT transitioning. IMO someone who is already "freaking out" over a measley 3 weeks of new growth makes me give the side eye as to whether they really want and are really ready to transition. Cuz they ain't seen nothing yet. If you have a panic attack at the first sign of a curl or kink then how da hell you go natural. That is like someone who always faints at the sight of blood saying they want to be a surgeon.

I agree but it does take some getting used to. Everyone who transitions has that adjustment period. The first 2 or even 4 months are really an adjustment, especially for those who wore a relaxer for more than half their life. I would grant them that whole "freak" out pass. Nothing past 4 months though.
ETA: I am a stickler for sleek edges...if they are seen, like a bun or just pulled back, my edges are laid down with gel or a pomade. That's been my preference from back when I wore my hair straight.

President Obama related to country
Apparently President Obama is related to the country's first enslaved man. So guess he's got some tie to USA black slave history after all. Very interesting.

My baby got some Motor City hair at crown, some Shy-town tangles at the front edges, with nappy arse Hotlanta sprinkled around the kitchen.

I don't understand the point of identifying one's hair as "mixed" or "biracial". Every time I see a question with the title "Can anyone help me control my biracial curls?", I cringe.

i need to start practicing living like a broke person w/ bills. i transferred a huge chuck of my paycheck into savings (for imaginary bills/saving for moving out) and had a tiny panic attack lol. funny thing is i would save a lot money if i wasn't such a fat arse. the bulk of my money goes to food. now that i have an office, i can restore my water intake, which will eliminate my random sugar cravings. i can eat lunch at work, and bring one of the plates from dinner home to eat. then i'll just have oatmeal or something for breakfast. all that so i have extra money to buy some clothes for work (like 85% of my wardrobe is not allowed there lol).
i can be a grown up. i can do it.

Yeah.. pita bread sandwhiches. You can stuff them with chicken salad, turkey salad, whitefish salad, or just do like a veggie type. You can do this with mini bagels too. My son loves when I put ANYTHING on a fresh crossiant as a sandwhich. He will tear up some chicken salad on a crossiant!
Then there are the tortilla wraps you can do. Grill up or saute some chicken and veggies and season with a light dressing and put in fridge. Next morning..scoop some into the wrap with a bit of lettuce and chopped tomatoes and roll it up. You can slice it ...it's cute that way. My son likes to see all the colors.
Always keep chopped veggies (a small thing of ranch dip..maybe the light kind) and chopped fruit on hand to go in their lunch. As well as yogurt, bananas, seedless grapes, and trail mixes...even dried fruits. Pita chips and dip like hummus. Nutella and animal crackers or graham crackers. You could also make cold pasta salads to put in there. Ceasar salads with grilled chicken!
