I hate having meetings at this agency. These raggedy arse MSCs be on all types of mess. Having the meeting late or cancelling and what not. Plus it takes the drivers forever to come pick me up. It's gonna be worse now since theyre picking up consumers for the program. Ugh

On my EVO. I'm too fancy to proofread.

Warning: this is loooong! ...

I'm overwhelmed by all the bizarre behaviors and comments (including my own) from everyone of all hair types:

Straighties (my sister-in-law comes to mind): Stop souring up your face and asking what happened when my curly hair gets even curlier in the mega-humidity of the south Pacific islands. Humidity does that! ... And while you're at it "straighties", stop insisting only straight hair is socially viable. Stop your gorilla sales tactics in malls - trying to get us to buy your straightening serums and damaging de-curling wands. Straight-haired hair stylists: Stop pretending you understand how to deal with curly or coily hair. Most of you are completely clueless and wouldn't last 5 min.s if you had to navigate a curly or coily head of hair. So just stop. Stop butchering up curly and coily hair and trying to thin it out with thinning shears or blow dry it straight because you're too effing lazy to deal with something you didn't bother to educate yourself about. Stop pedaling things to the curly/coily public to "tame" our hair - things that cause upper respiratory distress and cancer, like the "Brazilian blow out". Stop putting pressure on entire cultures to loosen or loose their curls and kinks. Just stop your general and heinously relentless crusade to straighten the world into your own image. ... But then again, you have a lot of ambivalence, don't you, straighties? ... With your curling irons and Flexirods and curly perms and teasing … And with your outright thievery of innovative African and Latin hair techniques like the “Bo Derek” look you “created” for yourselves or the Bantu knot out style you "discovered" recently and posted on youtube. (Must you steal everything that isn't nailed down?) It's not clever and most thinking people see right through it. Mostly, just quit trying to "straighten" everyone else out.

Wavies: Yes, I'm repeating this for the fourteen hundred and twenty-seventh time with the vain hope you'll finally accept it: NO. Your hair is not "curly", it's wavy. Wavy hair has waves. The weird thing about some of you guys is that the closer to straight hair you are, the more you pretend your hair is curly and not wavy. I once spoke with a lady who told me she loves her “curly” hair, especially when she "enhances it by using a curling iron on it”. Stop pretending you have curly hair because if I give you actual curly hair for a day, you're going to be tres overwhelmed. It's a whole other animal - a glorious but much wilder one - that often takes longer to comb/brush and demands more product. You don't have curly hair so you don't have a curly clue. And the other annoying thing is you call REAL curls "bushy" or "unruly" because you never had any real life experience w/curly hair yourself, did you? So just shut up and deal with your waves. (PS I would gripe more about you but I just don't seem to notice wavy hair all that much, so I'm probably overlooking a lot of your neurosis.)

Coilies: Thousands of years ago African hair was probably the rule of the land. At that time it was probably a travesty to have anything less regal sitting upon one's head than thick, lovely coils (the inverse of the straight-haired dominance-based discrimination of today). Let's face it: today is a different story. Society has leveled a wrecking ball at certain groups that have very curly hair. Many coilies have risen above it all. And to those who haven't (thinking of my own mother, and most of her generation): It's a shame you've never seen your natural hair, much less appreciated its beauty. It's also a sh**ty lesson of self-hatred you could be passing on to your kids. Taking it a step further, until more coilies actually wear their natural, God-endowed coils in the light of day, it feeds into a global belief that coils are innately ugly and wrong. It feeds into straight-haired discrimination, And when I say natural - someone's going to get upset with this - I don't mean just not straightening it, I also mean not PANICKING when it isn't kept in some "protective style" or otherwise bound down or stretched out and "defined" with excessive layers of product. Even braids or locs can hide a deeper insecurity about wearing coils/kinks as they actually are. This annoying coily phobia is matched by the next group I'm targeting, curlies (and their curly phobia) ...

Curlies: Assuming you aren't straightening the mess out of your hair already, you are the people most likely to squawk, “Don't touch my curls!” How stupid and vain. You could be underwater during a tsunami and you'd be guarding your hair from anything brushing against it because God forbid your “look” gets disturbed. Yeah, true: coilies and even wavies/straighties can be like this, but curlies, you (and I) go overboard. Deep down you know your biggest fear is frizz and it doesn't take much to knock your curls out of balance and cause frizz. And that's too effing bad because curly hair isn't always going to look uniformly perfect and it WILL frizz. That's part of the deal. It's part of what gives you and I character. You/we are all being overly-sensitive asses. Get over yourselves. Another annoying thing that I see in you/me, more than in other hair types: Holy Grail chasing. Yes, all the creams and tonics and hair gravies usually gets back to trying to beat FRIZZ, but there's also something else negative at work here and I haven't quite figured it out yet (I'm guessing it's based on peer pressure and even fears of being seen as non-White, for too many of us). Maybe less frizz serum and more truth serum could help. Since curlies (and coilies too?) are likely to get an equal number of insults and accolades about their hair from others (there's little in between), we can end up being neurotic perfectionists. Whatever. It's trifling. Cut it out. And stop twirling your hair in public, curlies. It grates on the nerves (this includes wavies who insist they're curlies). You're not cute. It looks immature. Like sucking your thumb. Btw, some curlies have the opposite affliction of wavies, calling their curly hair wavy. It's maddening. Pretentious. We can see through your act – can see all your loops and ringlets and spirals so STFU and accept you're one curly-headed b. Stop trying to be different. You already are.

Happy to hear you do you.

Am not always feeling the strong feelings expressed in my rant, but admittedly - and since this is a thread for ranting - I sometimes do get annoyed certain things. I'm guessing most or all people get annoyed once in a while by something that doesn't seem completely like "their business".

... Congrats Saila for you wonderful achievement

USPS supposedly delivered one of my packages yesterday and the other two today, but my sister swears that no one came by to drop off a package/the mailman didn't stop by.

Guess I'm gonna have to go to the post office on Monday. :/
