Oh, I asked my dad for $300 for a car tag when I bought my new car years ago. He said no which was fine. First he said he'd have to talk to my stepmother and he'd let me know. Next time I talked to him he also gave me a long lecture about buying things I couldn't afford and even told me to take the car back. I was sooo mad that I cried when I got off the phone. I vowed never to ask him for money again. My dad paid child support but he didn't pay anything for me to go to college. Yet he and my stepmother put my half brother through a private high school. He is 25, still lives with them and never finished college. So my dad making me feel bad about asking for the money really hurt me.

Why is he not "one of us"? Because has a white fiancé, maybe a republican, or used his brains? He is not the first black athlete to marry outside of his race (so what?), he may or may not be a republican (I greatly admire Colin Powell and is a republican), he actually used his brains (that is a novelty, actually as it relates to black athletes).
His statements were completely ignorant and pointless.

Exactly!! I first heard about this on conservative radio and they were all over that one of "us" is making black people look silly. I can relate to this because I have been called "white" for the way I talk, for taking advanced classes in school, have white friends ect. Since when do all black people have to entertain certain beliefs? We say we want to be treated as individuals and not be labeled by stereotypes or profiled yet when someone doesn't fit the black "mold" they are an uncle tom, sellout, oreo. Stupidity.

Thank youuuu! But yikes, maybe I spoke too soon. I definitely plan on furthering my education, but not for 1-2 more years. Gaining invaluable research (and life!) experiences.

I'm determined to wear my hair straight even though I'm running like 4 miles everyday. I don't really sweat in my scalp. But I can only see disaster resulting from this. Still determined though.

Wedding dual reception after almost a decade of marriage. Someone wants to throw us a reception years later because someone else is getting married. How do I tell them it is poor etiquette?
