I reeeeeally wish I knew cars. I have no idea what to google because I don't know what I'm looking for. My aunt wants to sell me my cousin's old car, the only problem is the axles are broken. But I have no idea what that means. I googled axles and I thought I understood, but when I used this repair estimating thing online it asked me if I wanted one or both. I thought there was only one!!! I'm ready to scream. I just want to know what;s going on with the car, so I don't get ripped off when I take it to the repair place because I have no idea what's wrong with it.

It depends on the car. How many axles? Is the vehicle front or rear wheel drive?

it's a 1994 honda accord. I'm 95% sure it's front wheel drive.

My aunt told me the front axles so if there are two in the front then I'm assuming two.

A car has four axles. One for each tire. Based on the research I did, it could be upwards of $1,200 (parts & labor). What is the mileage on the car? You should find out what the resale value is based on the mileage and conditions of the car to determine if it is worth buying.

omg. thank you so much! That is really steep and I'm not exactly sure it's really worth it. Thanks a million again!

I'm opting out the strength collection tomorrow. I can't be bothered to wake up that early when I have to work a double tomorrow. It's not worth it, plus my mom got me all the jumbo lip pencils from Urban decay. YES ALL.

I was just gonna sell the lipstick (extras I was gonna purchase) anyway. If they're re promoting party pigeon or parrot etc, it'll probably get re promoted again or permanent since they did candy yum yum later on in life.

May the strength be with you curlies that buy them!!

if I come across it at the mac counter after christmas I'll get it......hahahhahahahahha but hopefully it'll be gone and save me money.

I'm waiting for the repromotion of spitfire...GOODNESS THAT LIPSTICK WAS THE BEST COLOR FOR ME, too bad someone threw it away.

Tell your aunt you want to take the car to a mechanic of your choosing. If she balks, you don't want that car. She may not know everything wrong with it. you know everything that's wrong and about what it will cost to repair. I think the repair estimate should factor into the asking price. Personally I wouldn't buy or sell a car to a relative or friend. Some of them expressed interest in buying my car but I decided to do a trade in although it was less money. I know they would have wanted to make payments and some of these people aren't paying their bills now so I know I won't be a priority. I would rather give them a car than sell them a car. Also ask your aunt if she has the title and whose name is on it. Have her show it to you. You don't want to pay your money and can't get it registered
My 2 cents.

Don't buy the car, because most likely the damage could be more than expected. In addition like everyone said find out exactly what's wrong with the car with a mechanic present in front of her sbd the cost estimate. You might be better of getting your own car else where. Get the car facts before buying.

It's been my experience that if more than one axle is broken on a car, the insurance company considers it totaled in an accident. The reason why is that even when they are repaired, the car never really drives correct after that, it will EAT tires, and it's generally not worth it to try and repair it. Has the car been in a wreak or something...cause axles don't just break on a car without some kind of impact. Even hitting a curb hard can crack/break an axle. I would get a carfax report on the car to check that.

My suggestion: DO NOT buy that car! You're better off going to Carmax to purchase a used car!

Ladies any suggestion on measuring out this yarn evenly for my yarn braids. I want them a little below my bra band. I have no tables and chairs in this apartment of mine.

ITA.

@applesandafros

A 1994 Honda is not worth any investment you would have to make. If you have a friend with a dealer license, you can get a car at auction for way less than you would in the market. If you don't have a friend, see if there are auctions near you, dealers will break a deal with you on site. You just have to do your research and know your limit before you go. Just another option...

Also can I take a moment to vent. I wanted my $$ situation resolved quickly by the time I got my 1st 2 checks, but that looks like a no go. The thing is I don't know how to get the debt I accrued with moving (breaking lease and loan w/ high interest rate) down without being a pauper. I am staying in the apartment I am living in longer which means I have to keep getting up at 4am to take Sophie out so no neighbors see her. Not to mention 2 retail credit cards.(those are low though) I just ahhhhhhhh. I can't get my stuff out of storage to move to me cuz it's so expensive. I'm about ready to find a cheap bead and buy a mattress but then that's a waste of money cuz I have a bedroom set. I don't have my kitchen w/ me so making meals is a pain.
The only thing that makes this ish bearable is my job where even though its challenging I feel like I am needed and have a purpose and doing something I love.

Hang in there it will get better. I've had similar situations almost every time I relocate. Things will normalize & you will be comfortable. Just keep telling yourself its worth it & it won't be long.
