Before I made the decision to big chop, I researched this site, the CN site, joined several different natural hair sites, not to mention stalked the hell out of YouTube. Point being, I wanted to be informed before I cut my hair off. I had the facts and learned hair density, porosity and elasticity are the most important in the care of your hair. I am happy to say my hair is thriving because if the knowledge I have gained from you ladies. I thank you all for that.

I never went into this for hair type, so it has never been a question for me. I just don't get it. Isn't healthy hair the end game? Or am I being naive?

texture - medium/fine, porosity - low/normal, elasticity - normal
co-wash - NaturelleGrow Coconut Water or Marshmallow Root, Slippery Elm Bark & Blue Malva Cleansing Conditioners
LI - KCKT mixed w/ SM C & H Curl & Style Milk
DC - NG Mango & Coconut H2O or Chamomile/Brdck Root
Gel - SM souffle (winter), KCCC (summer) or CR Naturals Aloe Whipped Butter Gel (year round)
Sealers - Virgin Coconut Oil, Avocado butter, Aloe butter
Ayurvedic treatments - Jamila Henna, Sukesh, Aloe Vera Powder, Hibiscus Powder
.

I get about an inch a month. So, I think it's possible. But it's clear from her pics she has kinkier hair at root with looser damaged hair at the end. I got told when I joined this site some people come up in here delusional and ish, thinking they got looser hair when it's actually kinky. I didn't believe it. It just doesn't make sense that people would ask for their hair type, get told it's type 4 and have issue with that. That's so sad and strange to me that some people have issues with kinky hair.

I know plenty of people have different curl types in the same head. I'm one of them, but on the same strand? Bish please.... I know everyone's hair grows at a different rate. There are so many misconceptions regarding natural hair until it's not even funny. There is this huge misconception that the hair will grow at a ridiculously fast rate, that it will be wash & go like you can actually simply wash your hair and run out of the house, and that you are guaranteed a curl pattern of some sort. You can have a loose curl pattern, extremely tight one, or none at all. I don't see what the issue is. If you discover that you don't have a loose curl pattern and you want one then simply texturize or texlax! There is no shame in it IMO. Outside of that, no hair product will miraculously transform the hair from 4b to 3b, 4a to 3a or anything of that nature. Gel and hair creams are not magic wands. Love what you have!

People tend to get offended when you share your opinion or a truth w/them when they asked you for your opinion in the first place. We have already said many times that the hair typing system is not one size fits all. There are no gold stars awarded for a certain hair type. The grass is always greener on the other side. I remember being in college and my RA who had 2b-3a-ish hair was always spending hours on her on it and she would be so frustrated.

Another thing I don't understand is the defensive attitude, "You just want my hair to be a certain type! You are denying me an opportunity to have 3xyz hair!" What does it benefit me to deny your hair anything? I don't believe anybody is sitting back saying, "Hah! I denied another type 3!!!" What exactly is wrong with having type 4 hair anyway? Why is that the leper of natural hair? I know many type 4s who get compliments all day about their hair. Is it compliments and attention people are seeking? I'm really trying to understand this.

Oh, and multitextured hair is not 4a roots, 3a middle, 2a ends.

I really hope I do not come off as being mean. That is certainly not my intentions, but being honest and presenting facts is what I try to do when I present anything to anyone. It may hurt when you learn the truth or you may feel silly when you discover what you believed is not a fact, but don't be mad about it. It's just hair.

I'm done preaching.

I wonder how many times I'm going to cry during Gossip Girl tonight. I can't even breathe. If they kill Chuck...I can't even fathom the idea...
People should be willing to stand by the things they say. Or they shouldn't say them. If your opinion can't stand in the light of day...maybe it should stay in the dark...in your head?

I will never understand the idea that black people should "support" any mainstream movie that presents us in a halfway decent light. Damn the plot, screw the actors--if there's a black person in it we're supposed to jump for joy.

Um no.

Frankly, I don't care what the general populace or "mainstream" America (or, hell, the world) thinks of me, as a black person. If a white person, or an Asian person, or a Hispanic person is stupid enough to judge me based on what the media says (whether the media is saying something negative OR positive) I don't really give a damn what they think about me.

Anyone whose world view on black people is going to be rocked by Lucas' new movie is a fool. If you didn't know that black people were more than thugs and cowards before the release of Red Tails (or any other rah rah Positive Black people movie) you're not worth me or anyone else wasting the breath to convince you otherwise.
