Past the TWA and Wash and Go .. Style Options?
Hello,
I'm writing to ask about what you ladies are doing w/ your hair when you reach that fuzzy, interim point between long/long-ish curls and the TWA. Took messy fishtail braids down last weekend to find that my hair is now too long for a simple water spritz w/ moisturizer ... -_-' I'm pretty bad at styling, but I was wondering what you guys do during this "transition" stage.
(Note: I'm not transitioning).
Any style ideas? I have on hand:
Kinky Curly Knot Today
V05 Moisturizing conditioner
Monoi / shea / olive butter / coconut / macadamia nut / argan oil
Garnier Fructis med hold pomeade
Shea Moisture Curl Smoothie and Souffle
Is it time for twist outs, or should I consider straightening?

I'm at this stage too.
Try twists and braid outs. Braid outs work better for me.

Finger coils and coil outs helped me a lot.

I am at that stage as well. Was always doing twist outs, did a braid out the other day. Why did I wait so long? I loved it!!!

I've been doing a ponypuff lately.
Put in some conditioner and pull it up. I do parts and braids to make it look slightly more interesting.
Oh sheesh, y'all. 'Tis my phone.

I am doing pony puffs a little more frequently, but I have to be careful about my edges.

Yeah, too much tension gives me headaches.
When I do it, I keep the front part out, pull the hair into a puff (not too tight, though) and then twist or lightly pin the rest of the hair off my face. It adds a bit more style and less tension on the edges.

Would you mind posting a pic the next time you do it?

Finger coils, and Buff headwear ( www.planetbuff.com and www.kitshack.com) and headband tubes from Virtuous Creations (vcreations.biz). Otherwise I woulda gone nuts. Now I do my wash n go's at night (including styler/gel) and sleep with it in a ponytail using a satin scrunchie. The next morning its still wet and I do a puff.

I guess I'm not at that stage yet as I can't do a ponytail and probably not a puff, but I just live in twists. Boring, but hey ho!

I have chin length hair unstretch (collar bone stretched). I have been doing a lot of flexi-rod sets. I love them. I have tight spiral curls and after about two or three days after my inital set, my curls tend to revert to my natural spiral curl size.
I tend to use shea moisture curl smoothie and ORS twist and lock gel(approx $3 + tax) for the set. I have a stash of large flexi rods all the way down to small ones. I wish I took pics, so you could see the results... oh well next time.
I also love creating up dos with my 2-3 day old
(stretched) wash in gos and adding accessories to liven it up.

I do puffs and still do my w n g. My hair is starting to hang now. Not dramatically, just more of a bob shape than before. I think since I'm awkward, my awkward stage is less noticeable. OOOOR.. Maybe I haven't gotten to it yet. O.O

I also have gone through my "journey" mainly with wash and gos (started with an inch of hair and am now BSL stretched). When my hair got around collarbone stretched, I began playing with twist/braid outs, but they take a good amount of time. I always use gel when I wng to prevent my roots from shrinking around each other too much and getting massive tangling.

I would suggest trying your hand at twist & braids outs. I just started doing them (although I can still get away with the water spritz and moitsurizer) and fell in love. Like what have I been missing all my life!

My hair stretched out is 4.5". I do puffs everyday. I detangle in the shower and that's it. Although, last night, I tried banding, and it stretched my hair out nicely, so I might incorporate that into my routine. As for my puffs, I sometimes don't wash/cowash for up to 4 days after combing it out. It sounds like I get tangles, but I make sure I don't and I moisturize and seal daily. I just can't wait until my hair is ponytail-able or in this case, puff-able
