Well another one bites the dust. My algae mask has mold in it.

Used once prior to my weave 95% of the product is unused.

ETA both butters and gel are clear. I purchased all in Feb, see start of thread.

Damn... Does she not use preservatives? There's a new UK [web?]store opening up next month that will be selling Camille Rose (as well as KBN!! Yessssss!). I was planning on getting that algae mask. :-/

Oh no say it ain't so. Did u try to contact the owner, Janelle, about the mold? She seems very nice and may replace it for you. I just checked my two jars and so far so good.

Does anyone else's algae mask have little blue flecks in it? I assumed it was the algae cause it was there when I opened it. But yall got me paranoid.

Also my Moisture butter separated, I stirred it up and its been fine..
Got my Almond Jai in the fridge until I use up the Moisture Butter, btw I like the almond jai better. The moisture butter doesnt work as wonderfully to moisturize and hold ends as it!

When I opened my algae it was creamy as the others, no flecks

Now the entire top is covered in mold

When I used it, mine had blue flecks...it's the blue algae in it.

Shawny, send her an email about the mold. It should have a shelf life of more than 4 months...otherwise she needs to upgrade her preservative system.

How does mold get into a product ? It seems I'm the first person to report an issue.

Is there any way I could have introduced mold into the jar?
I don't even use my hands to take product out of anything. I have a scoop I use.

Almost $18 of product in the garbage

This is the ingredients from the site, where is the preservative ?

Ingredients: aloe vera juice, hemp seed oil, coconut oil, shea butter, mango butter, jojoba oil, rose hip, green tea, blue green algae, panthenol, msm,and biotin.

Since she doesn't list a perservative, there is a good chance when it arrived the mold had already been introduced probably to the cap. When its in the cap it takes longer for the mold to show in the product itsself, so there isn't anything you could of done to prevent this.

Folks must tighten up and stop playing these games, or their business won't even get off the ground good before they are in court.

This lack of a good perservative system is why I'm not biting on the curling jelly....there isn't enough love.

WOW. Yeah I'd DEF send her a pic of that. If for nothing else so that she can check her preservative system. I'm assuming that she uses one and its just not listed on the label (although I'm sure that it's SUPPOSED to be listed on the label). Now ya'll got me paranoid.....

Well I sent a message on Fb when i discovered it.

The response I received back was very bland and basically said I'm the first person that ever reported a problem.

Thats it, no offer for me to email them a picture, nothing.

I replied back that I would send them a picture of what it looked like and as of yet I havent heard anything back.

Im just taken aback that you dont ask me , anything other than to say you havent received any reports of this before.

ETA Oh yeah the shelf life of products is a year. That was included

Hum....now I'm interested in what she uses to preserve her stuff since its not listed on the jars. And I'm surprise and kinda not at the same time about the response. These companies need to learn how to address issues like this in a professional manner and basicly dismissing issues like this isn't the route to go. I don't care HOW good your products are, if your customer service SUCKS, you're gonna be hard pressed to get people to purchase from you. There are just too many companies out there with similar and compairable products to be pulling that BS.

Now I'm not liking this at all... They need to rectify this issue and offer a replacement, discount...something. They could at least seem a little interested and offer you more than "this has never happened before."

I was late to try CR, but the twisting butter is HG status for me. I'm not for bad CS though.

Yup, in my mind I would apologize and inquire for more information. ( how long , where is it kept, pictures , temperature of where you keep the items, cross contamination, etc)

I would have offered a discount on future products or offered to replace the item.

I drop $80 to try your products in Feb , and believe me folks read this thread and try products based on the fact that this thread is open.

I want to sell the rest of the items I have now because bad taste in my mouth, which leads me to move on.

No hard feelings, Not another thought but I do believe in customer service EVEN if your products suck, customer service will win me over and I will promote you.

Oh well.

Ugh I hate when companies are so dismissive. If you say the shelf life of your products are 6months to a year, and a customer complains about a product spoiling well before that time frame, you should offer a replacement or some type of consolation. Instead of a dismissive response like "this has never happened before". As to imply that the customer is out of line for having the audacity to confront you with an issue that nobody else has ever approached them with. What the hell type of response is that?

I really love the algae mask. Nothing else I've tried compares to it. Now I'm not so sure I'd repurchase. She obviously doesn't care about the quality of her products. Why should I trust that I'd get the quality and service that I'm paying for?

Well, that's it for her. I'm sick of these companies. What I have of hers is nice, but I wasn't blown away by anything. I have one product, SOYlicious, that I haven't used yet.

That was definitely not the right way to handle the situation. I don't care HOW "great" your products are, I'm a product junkie, so I know what my options are...and I have many. So many.

I was all set to buy a few CR products at the WNHS in April but passed when I got to booth and realized she wasn't offering much of a discount....maybe equivalent to $1.00 to $2.00 off.

Considering the pricepoint AND potential issues with adequate preservatives AND poor customer service......I think I'll pass.

Cerendipity - if you were SUPPOSEDLY the first person to mention the mold issue then it would not have "broken the bank" for her to replace your product as a small gesture to show her appreciation for your business/support. This is another example of how good customer service can go a long way.......

This is what so many companies don't understand. Sometimes it's best to lose a few dollars, and keep a current customer (as well encourage first-time purchasers), rather than tick off one...who tells everybody else about their bad experience, and so on. You never blow off a customer, even if they're blow-off worthy (cuz some folks do come with some VERY shady, questionable incidents).

They always wanna mess with the product junkies...the ones who drop the most and who help get the word out about them. Some of these folks would still be at "5 purchases" on Etsy, if it weren't for the ladies here (not including other hair boards, blogs, etc.) who "find" them, and sometimes only list them in a signature....and they get more business in a couple of days, than they've had in a couple of months. I know this happens, because they've told me.

It's not okay to offer poor customer service to anybody...regardless of what they spend. But goodness, don't tick off the people most likely to spread the word, and give the dollars. These (not just Camille Rose...natural hair products in general) products aren't cheap, and if you purchase enough for a standard natural haircare regimen (poo, condish, styler, leave-in, oil/butter), you're out of $60 or more @ $12 a product.
