Crisco on dry hair.

HI ladies,
I was wondering if you all have ever used crisco and if so, how would I use it. Am I supposed to keep a little jar of it on my dresser and when I get ready to moisturize my hair, just open it like a jar of hairgrease and put it on my hair? Can I grease my scalp with it? Or am I supposed to only use it for twist outs or on wet hair. I like to wear fros and puffs. If I want to put it on my dry hair, would that be ok??? Ladies please chime in because I have heard alot about crisco but not too much on how to actually use it... Thanks ladies....
Wouldn't it be more for sealing, not moisturising? I really don't know and have never used it although I've read where people say they do. My question how would this differ from other oils as far as sealing in moisture? Or do people use it to flat iron/blow dry their hair?

I heard that people use it for flat ironing and blow drying as well. But I also read somewhere where they use it as a daily moisturizer or a glosser. I really want something that will make my hair shine. I thought this would be it but I guess not. I have very thick natural hair and nothing seems to make it shine.
Ive only used it in the winter to do twists with. Works like a charm but moisturizer?? I dunno about that
Oh ok,,,, Well thanks you guys for the responses. I will try it on wet hair when I do my twist outs this weekend. wish me luck!!!!

I use on dry hair. It softens and seals.
Oh wow Foxy, you use on dry hair? Do you just put it all over your hair and then comb? What is your regimen?
Crisco is mainly hydrogenated oils. So I would think that it's more of a sealant than anything else. At least, that's how I'd use it.

Ok so one more question foxy.. do you spray it with water and put the crisco on every morning? Or do you do it once a week? I am asking because my hair is so tightly curled that it is dry and matted every day. My length is to my shoulders if hot combed. It is above my ears when washed and wear. So you can see why I need something to keep my hair moisturized. It is torture getting it to look good every day. Thanks to you and everyone who has replied.

But anyway, why not try it for yoyrself and then re-wet and seal when your hair starts to feel dry again, not when Foxy re-wets her hair.
My hair is in the 4s, low in porosity, high in density and coarse.

Thanks Foxy. Based on all of you guys responses, I can now decide how to use the crisco and how often. Thanks everyone!!!
