Default Dandruff and Mousse

Does mousse cause flaking/dandruff?
I used shampoo with sulfates in it recently (I know =(...but my hair was super dirty) and noticed that my scalp was drier. But also, I started using Herbal Essences "Totally Twisted" and my hair was flaking A LOT today. I realized that the flakes weren't coming from my scalp but my hair!
Has anyone else had this experience?

I used to use mousse before I went natural on cornrow extensions. If you use too much, it causes flakes. I have never used it on my natural hair though.

Flaking from the hair is not dandruff. Dandruff is a condition of the scalp--nt hair strands.
