My HG leave in is CJ Curl Rehab.

This is great, plays well with all of my stylers, has awesome slip, protein and coconut free, helps keep my dry hair moisturized for days and smells delish.

Other noteable mentions,

Mozeke Grapeseed Condition (while I'm still miffed with her cs, this is a very good versatile product)

QB CTDG
CJ Beauticurls Argan and Olive Oil
CJ Smoothing Lotion
Lacio Lacio (this is my HG when I apply heat of any kind, the cones lock in the moisture and it plays well with all of my heat protectors without making my hair look stringy.

Tresemme Naturals moisture conditioner.
I look for slip, moisture, detangling, works well with stylers and can also be used alone.

Alba Botanica Leave-In Conditioner is my favorite leave-in conditioner.

I :love10: it because it's moisturizing, super slippery (thanks in part to fenugreek seed extract and marshmallow leaf/root extract) and smooths my coils allowing them to separate beautifully when I do my braid-outs. It has awesome ingredients and is quite affordable when purchased online (iherb.com, etc). I wlsh Alba Botanica sold a large size of this stuff.

Ingredients: water, cetearyl alcohol, coconut oil, vegetable glycerin, behentrimonium methosulfate, panthenol (vitamin B5), green tea leaf extract, moringa seed extract, sisal extract, fenugreek seed extract, marshmallow leaf/root extract, aloe vera juice, lavender extract, calendula flower extract, matricaria flower extract, citric acid, phenoxyethanol, potassium sorbate

CJ Smoothing Lotion is numero uno for me. It moisturizes my hair instantly, has great slip- which makes detangling a breeze, and smells great to boot. Also, a little goes a long way. I'm heavy handed and this is one of the few products that I actually use a little of.

QBMTDG and B.A.S.K Silk & Honey Hair Milk are on the list too. I haven't been using them for long...less than a month actually, but they both keep my hair moisturized and help with detangling. I just need to use them a little more to officially add them to my HG list.

Naturigin moisture conditioner, makes my hair feel silky and soft, no obvious scent, fantastic ingredients and doesn't burn a hole in my pocket .

Anatomicals conditioner, this stuff keeps my hair soft for days as a LI.

Hawaiian silky 14 in 1 gives me soft and shiny hair .

SmilingElephant 05-15-2012 05:08 PM

My most favorite leave in is Oyin Hair Dew

I also like Hawaiian Silky 14 in 1...i use that on really humid days...my hair feels so soft when i do that bc of the glycerin:afro:

I look for leave ins that are super moisturizing and creamy...thinner conditioners leave me with drier, frizzier curls and the creamier leave ins halp me fight ssk's

I haven't tried the CJ Smoothing Lotion yet:disgust:...i do wanna try it tho.

1. Shea Moisture Shea Butter Leave-in (the original in the white bottle). This is my HG leave-in and has been a staple in my routine for at LEAST the past 5 years or longer. Seriously its simple ingredient-wise, plays well with all stylers, is thick, and leaves my hair moisturized. This is my go to winter leave in or what I reach for when my hair is being funky and is dry or crispy. Cost: $8-10 for 8oz

2. Alba Botanica Leave in Conditioner- I tried this a few years ago on a whim from vitacost because the ingredients looked good and it had rave reviews. I was not disappointed and was pleased to find that this is almost an EXACT dupe of the KBB Hair Milk (sweet ambrosia)...the old formula before she thinned it too much. This plays well with all stylers and leave my hair nice and soft. Where the shea moisture is my go to leave in in the winter or when my hair is feeling extra parched/dry, this is my go to summer/warm weather leave in. Cost: $5 for 7oz

3. CJ Beauticurls Argan oil and Olive Conditioner and CJ Rehab Conditioner: These are a tie for me. I love them both and they both play well with stylers...although not ALL stylers likes these for some reason. I can use about a quarter size amount for my entire head and it just soaks right in. i mostly use these when I using CJ stylers. Cost: Beauticurls A&O $19 for 12oz, Curl Rehab $65 for 32oz (1L) or $20 for 8oz

4. Oyin Hair Dew: This is a really LIGHT leave in/Refresher. I like to use this under creamy stylers that have a lot of moisture in them already but that are not enough alone. Plays well with just about everything I've tried it with smells devine, and a little goes a long way. I also add this to a spray bottel with distilled water, castor oil and grapseed oil and make a refresher spritz. Its a good multipurpose product. Cost: $13 for 8z, $20 for 16oz, or $34 for 32oz (1L)

Those are my top 5 leave-ins. Honorable mention would be Koils by Nature Shea aloe leave in. I really like it, honestly it would be #2 on my list, but it retails for $22 for 12oz and I have to use too much of it so it doesn't last as long as the other items I've listed do.

Cerendipity 05-17-2012 08:25 AM

I see CJ Smoothing Lotion and Hair Dew are running neck and neck.

I like the Alba Botanica LI and Original Sheamoisture leave in as well.

Nappy_curly_crown 05-17-2012 08:31 AM

I haven't tried the smoothie lotion. I keep trying to catch it on the swap board so I can try it, but I've got SO much stuff to use that I need to "use down" the stock pile before I potentially add a new product. I've heard good things about it so I'm curious. It's funny because I remember when Curl Junkie came out YEARS ago and I never tried her stuff because I just *knew* it wouldn't work for my hair. Fast forward to now and I could almost use CJ products exclusively. Crazy.
