My faves are the Raw Shea Reconstructive Masque, the Reconstructive Elixir and the African Black Soap Purification mask.
I have not yet used the Shea Masque as a DT, but I love it as a daily moisturizer/leave in conditioner. My hair stays moist for days! However, it doesn't have much hold, per se.
I use the reconstructive elixir for all kinds of things lol. But mostly for sealing in moisture or I use it to close the cuticle after I blow dry my hair (per the recommendations on the bottle). Sometimes I'll just apply a little to my hair in the mornings for shine. I've found that it is better to spray it on your hands and then work into hair as opposed to spraying directly on the hair.
I use the purification masque as a pre-poo treatment. It provides pretty good slip for my pre-shampoo detangling session (I don't like to detangle in the shower). It has also helped with my dandruff issues significantly. The tea tree oil in it provides a slight tingly sensation that feels great on the scalp.
I purchased the Curl & Shine Kit as well, but I think I am the only natural in the world who is not blown away by the Curl Enhancing Smoothie. It left my hair coated & producty, and on top of that didn't really provide hold. Plus the smell (for me) was too sweet. The Curl & Style Milk was just ok as well.
Hope this helps!

The purification mask I use for DC, prepoo, detangler, and a cowash.
The moisture retention shampoo and the curl milk are 2nd and 3rd.

number one is the coconut & hibiscus curl & style milk
also love the restorative conditioner (use it as a conditioning rinse and as a dc)
and the coconut & hibiscus hold & shine spray
i really like using the curl enhancing smoothie as a dc (have used it twice for this purpose) it works well for me that way, but i dont like leaving it in my hair. hmmm

Curl and style milk
Curl enhancing smoothie
I don't have a third product that's a favorite. If the restorative line didn't smell bad to me, I would say the shampoo because it performed well.

SM Purification Masque
-I use it a pre-shampoo detangler and deep conditioner. It has great slip, moisturizes well and smells good (like plantains).
SM Curl & Style Milk
-I use it on top of my leave-in conditioner. It smells great (like pineapple candy) and adds moisture as well as sheen.
SM Moisture Retention Shampoo
-I use it to cleanse my scalp weekly and it cleanses well without stripping.

Favorite Shea Moisture Products
Organic Coconut and Hibiscus Curl & Style Milk--this is a good curl refresher, but it has protein in it, so I don't use it all the time.
Organic Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque--because there is so much shea butter in this, I use it as a sealant over CJ smoothing lotion LI--and I use very little because it is really thick. This is my favorite.
Curl Enhancing Smoothie-I rarely use this, because like the style milk, it has protein in it. Too much protein makes my hair dry out.

Funny everyone has different answers..
Def try a shampoo, I like The Yucca & Baobab (thickening) if you have scalp issues, better than the black soap. The Curl & Shine Shampoo is a great overall shampoo, cleansing but not stripping at all and the Restorative Shampoo is good if you have super dry hair.
the Curl & Style Milk is a great leave in
and the Purification Masque as a pre poo
also, I havent tried it in a long time but the Restorative Conditioner made a great leave in, it worked well when my hair was dry and I needed something heavy and moisturizing.
