Lightbulb Signature Textures Braid Made Curls

Signature Texture Braid Made Curls ™
Read about it here.

I found this line online...some months ago. They hadn't officially launched, and I contacted them, asking that they participate as a vendor at the WNHS. I was SO intrigued by the products - not because I'm after curl definition, or "changing" my texture - but because of the claims that the products help stabilize porosity, which results in better moisture retention, and less breakage. Awesome concept.

They did participate as a vendor at the show, but they weren't listed on the exhibitor list. I accidentally stumbled across their table, as I was making my rounds. I was very excited. I HAD to try the products. There was no way I was leaving without a jar.

"Braid Made Curls- Heavy" was the product I decided to purchase. They make a few different creams, made for wash no gos, but the application process is a bit tedious...the cream has to be worked in...and worked in...and worked in...like 3 or 4 times. I don't have that much time. So, I knew I wasn't going to go that route. Also, the company claims the products help improve the texture of the hair over time.

I think they would have had much better success at the show, if they'd had some fully "done" heads, along with some application demos - done on a stage, where they could talk to customers, and introduce the concept. It would have made a world of difference.

The product isn't cheap (they sold it at the show for $25 a jar), and it's not like ANYTHING else I've ever used. There is a learning curve, but I think I'm going to like the product I chose.

There are a few YouTube video reviews, with mixed results. I must say, I think much of the not-so-good results are a result of...user error. Again, you must follow the instructions. If you're not going to do that...because it's too time consuming, or you just don't feel like "doin' all that", it's best to pass on this line, and stick to more run-of-the-mill products.

With the Braid Made Curls, you still have to smooth in the cream, but you don't have to do it multiple times. The product needs to be room temperature, and done in a "warmer" environment - not under the air conditioning. It's applied to clean, conditioned hair - with nothing underneath. So, don't go addin' leave-ins, and shea butter, and CIAB, and all that.

I called the company, to get even more detailed instructions. You need a spray bottle with a water/oil mix. They recommend grapeseed oil, but you can use another oil. I used EVOO, because I don't have any grapeseed oil. The water/oil mix helps to "work" the product into the hair. It's a thick, waxy, but creamy product.

So, I sectioned my hair, misted each section with the water/oil mix, and worked the cream into each section, starting from root to tip, smoothing it down the strands. I followed with a comb thru. You can't just "plop" it on the hair, and braid. It's not a "slippy" product, and it doesn't feel that great going into the hair, however it dries beautifully. I just finished braiding my hair, about 30 minutes ago, and my braids feel...amazing, soft and conditioned, with no stiff/crunchy ends. I didn't have to "oil" my ends. My roots feel fantastic. I would also recommend not being too heavy-handed with the product, and keeping the hair moist, as you work it in.

Oh, and for those of you who hate "scents"? This product smells like...nothing.

I'll take the braids down tomorrow and post a pic..I'll try to post a pic tomorrow. I think this will be a hit @ $35 a jar. Lol.

I love the name, braid made curls.

My daughter loves the Sebum Protection Kinky-Curly one. She is very active and hair is the last thing on her mind but I'm a stickler for neat hair...this stuff has helped us come to a happy median. She does her hair bi-weekly and her hair holds very well with minimal refreshing in between.
Like Nea said, it is tedious but when done right the hair turns out nice with minimal frizz and a nice hold. I cannot say that it has changed her "texture", she has been using it since Feb.

I've never taken the time to do a wng with it and it is too expensive to be playing around. I may order the braid made curls after my no-buy expires.

...and y'all can keep "lookin' around", cuz I'm not messin' with those other creams. I knew how much work I was willing to do, BEFORE I even bought the product.

Okay...I don't have a pic, cuz I'm having computer issues. My avatar is the best I can do, and you can't see much with that. The next time I do a braidout with this product (which will be the next time I do a braidout), I'll have a good picture.

The Results:
I got a very nice, defined, smooth braidout, with zero frizz. Nada. I added no moisturizer after the take down. I just fluffed, and was out the door.

The humidity wasn't high that day, but my work environment is "humid" inside, and my hair didn't "expand" much as the day went on. It pretty much looked the same as it did when I left that morning. For me, that's major.

My hair NEVER felt hard. I could feel "hold", but my hair was soft and pliable, and it stayed that way...all day/evening. To be honest, I was really worried how this product was going to dry in my hair, and I'm happy to say my worries were unfounded.

My hair got wet (lawn sprinkler) that evening, and I rebraided (with EO Style Nourishing Hair Cream applied to sectioned hair, without combing), and got the same awesome results, with no frizz/poofiness.

Next time, I'll apply a bit more of the Braid Made Curls to the crown area, and I expected a bit of a learning curve. But I'm excited about how my hair performed - I can get a defined, fab looking braid/twistout anytime. I've mastered braid/twistouts. But for my hair to retain the same level of softness...all day, with no additional product of any kind added, is noteworthy.

It's really a shame the company doesn't list product ingredients. Many (like me) are sensitive to common ingredients found in niche product lines.

so I tried my Kinky Curly cream out last night on dry hair.

I should have did it on damp hair but I was lazy.

I could see the potential in this stuff immediately. It weighed my hair down in some places so much the hair was straight but then curled to my head.

I didnt have the strength to do it 4 times and I was half-assing. My cream was room temperature so it spread much easier. I also sprayed each section before.

Being that I did it on dry hair , my hair has an overcast grayish tinge. My hair looks a little dull. That usually happens when shea butter doesnt penetrate.

I wasnt expecting the full potential because like I said I did it on dry hair but I like it and will try it this weekend the correct way.

I now want to try the braids to curl. I bet my hair would be FAB.

I tried the Kinky Curly on out but I think I used too much oil in my water mix...I ended up with dull oily hair. I'm going to try the braid made curls as soon as the weather cools some.

...i'm supersonic

I have the new formula of the wash n go creams. The new creams don't require all that. I have the kinky and the kinky/curly in Argan and JBCO.

When I feel like attempting another wash n go, I'll pull one of the jars out and go for it. I REALLY like the Braid Made Curls.
