I don't think it is for me either, at least not during these beginning stages. My hair is very dry and my TWA really seems to retain more moisture when I DC over night. At least for now.

All DC's are left in overnite. Henna 3 to 4 hours, PT are no more than 3 hours.

Yes, I've read several articles stating that more than 15 or even 30 minutes is a waste of time as DCs do not require that much time to do its job.

I don't even feel it's a waste of time, I mean I'm sleep it's not like I'm doing any thing, lol! To me it's not about leaving it own to get better results. I just like to sleep on it because it's something I've always done.

I have also read articles that dc'ing all together is a waste of time since hair is dead and cant be repaired. Some people in 4a dont dc. I read the "expert" information but at the end of the day I listen to my hair. Especially since experts are notorious for telling something is good for you then 10 years later they tell you it is going to kill you. My own unprofessional opinion is that how long a dc should be left in is connected to porosity levels.

Its my own little relaxation ritual and I will keep it on as long as I want to, I honestly feel like anything UNDER 30 minutes is a waist of treatment.

Default I'm new at this so I'm a little confused

what does DC mean? I've always had curly hair. now its really long too. it always gets tangled and very frizzy. i just got on this website trying to figure out how to make it curlier than it is and hold it that way. I work in a dealership selling cars so I am outside allot also. the wind just makes it worst. and so does the sun. any suggestions will help ( and I am not a tumboy for working with cars. i am a girly girl that loves cars and my customers love me..without the frizz lol )

Adthomas, I'm with you on the porosity connection! Also, the base of the conditioner. For ex. I am huge AOWC fan. All their condish are coconut based and absorb readily. The first time I used it, before I knew better, I though it wasn't working because I no longer saw it. Heat vs no heat makes a diff also as the heat raises the cuticle and the condish is able to penetrate quicker and deeper.

Bump that, I can feel a major difference in leaving the conditioner in my hair for a couple hours as opposed to 30 mins. Theres soft, then theres baby buttery soft.. which might not be necessary but sure feels nice.
I know some people dont dc at all, but I also can feel a difference when ive skipped DCing for too long and need to/finally do it.
soooo they can keep their "facts" lol

I leave it on overnight if I can/if it's convenient. If it's during the day, I try to leave it on for an hour.

Yassss girl. Lol. I love leaving my DCs in overnight. I can tell when my hair's had conditioner in it for 30 mins versus overnight. I know that's not for everyone given the differences in porosity/density/etc though, but it IS relaxing. Haha

I deep condition overnight on dry hair.

My hair loves overnight DCing! It always ends up feeling super soft and buttery. I think DCing under a plastic cap/hat combo helps as well.

Under plastic cap for 30 min. It might stay in longer if I start sumthin that takes more than 30 min. If I'm reading my bible I usually lose track of time. If I'm watchin a movie I just pause it when I remember it's time to rinse. If I'm on the phone with Mommi, she's ususally the one who reminds me I have conditioner in (she always asks me upon answering the phone what I'm doin...and I must tell her LoL).
