Default Hair Shows and Events

When you show up to a hair show or an event, what do you expect?

I've been to many different style events and the best so far is where there was a circular discussion on hair. I learned a lot and it was easy to talk, everyone had a great time.

I also like great goodies bags especially if I'm paying to get into the joint. Great goodie bags don't need to include fullsize products but mini's are necessary...those paper trial size is uhhh not enough

I haven't been to many hair events. But I've read about quite a few.

An ideal "natural" hair event would be a perfect combination of education (teach me, show me, engage me, enlighten me), socialization (fellowship with good eats), and "edification" ("build up" or "satisfy" my inner PJ, with a goodie bag filled with some good stuff).

Now, folks will talk about you, if you give away janky swag bags....and they'll do it on YouTube. I've seen it. I've always been surprised, because usually the event planners went all out with the advertising, hype, guest vloggers etc.

You don't have to give away full size products, but "swag" to me means quality/luxury - not dollar store.

I've never been to any hair show. But I'm looking forward to attending one soon

Although, since I know how to take care and style my hair, and I'm not a PJ anymore, I'm not sure what I would do at a hair show except network and meet new people and drool over all the beautiful hair

Same here. As an attendee, yep it's all about viewing gorgeous hair, and shopping (I'm still a PJ)

I have never been to one but am about to go to one in New Orleans. Im hoping to learn a lot about styling techniques and care. I also felt really good the times I have been places where natural hair was in the majority. It felt like yes our hair is beautiful just the way it is and we dont have to relax it to be accepted!! Weird I know. Im not really a pj and am considering not going the Saturday when the vendors are there bc told mom I would visit this weekend. I think I will be more into sunday with the lectures. I think I am going to Curly Nikki on Thursday. I asked boss to let me off early.

Having been to about 3 so far, I have a good idea about what I hope for/expect at an event, such as good organization, a nice goody bag like Nea mentioned, a nice/professional variety of vendors, and just a good vibe over all. The event I went to for National Natural Hair Day met NONE of these expectations and I ended up feeling like I just wasted $20.

I'm not paying $50 and up ever...anything between $25.00 - $35.00 I'm expecting a swag bag that is out of this world and an overall great experience. I like intimate settings, I want to be able to ask a questions and not feel rushed because the place is packed.

...i'm supersonic

This here. I don't want/need huge crowds, loud music, or "celebrity guests", who are often brought in to make a weak event less weak.
