Hair Porosity Test
Hello, I am not sure if this post goes in this thread or another one, but this one seems to have the highest traffic so...here goes.
I am focusing on my daughter's hair porosity to determine why some products work the way they do in her hair. I did the porosity test, but I am unsure if I did it correctly because I get drastically different results. The first time I did the test I just set her hair on top and didn't touch it. It stayed on top and didn't absorb any water. Next I placed in on top of the water and pushed it gently into the water, just on the surface, to let the whole strand soak up the water. When I did that her hair sunk immediately to the bottom. Now I don't know what end of the spectrum her hair is...is she low porous or high porous??? Which test is right? Strange... HELP!!. Also on a side note..she seems to be protein sensitive. I read on an article that high porosity hair needs protein, but her hair can't handle a high dose of it. I used the Shea Moisture Curl Style Milk which has Silk Protein, but not a high dose of it. She tolerated it for a while, but eventually hair hair started rejecting it.
