Am I 4a??

I am so unsure at this point. This is my hair after being wet from having moisturizer in it. I didnt wash it (its actually dirty) I have caked up stuff on my scalp I can see when i scratch it and...usually the curl looks different... as this topic progresses I can do a cowash so you all can see what the curls normally look like...they usually arent tight at all. This is the first day I have seen my hair look like this.... I am really frustrated.... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...r/IMG_0262.jpg

I'm not an expert but your hair looks more like 3c in this pic.

The middle of the back of my head is quite tender and much shorter aswell

the ends seems to be looser and bigger curls , however the rest seems to be tighter and look along the type 4 line.

Are you still transitioning ?

AliyahMonet 07-30-2012 11:59 AM

I never had permed hair....

I use to flat iron my hair alot and in June around the 21st I decided to just wear it natural....I havent straightened it since, I had it natural june 5th until the 10th I think and I straightened it once for a graduation celebration that my cousin had and then after a few days I went back natural

You might have some heat damage?

Looks like slightly heat damaged or long term transitioning 4a hair to me. Perhaps you could wash and condition your hair properly..post some more pictures of it all dry and people can better help you.

I think so...because my curl pattern use to just be like the bigger curls all over...

Yeah but heat damage loosens curls..not tightens them. Maybe your hair is just frizzy from lack of proper moisturization and some of the heat damage so it's causing your curls to be a lot less defined. So it's making the hair "appear" tighter to you.

I think you could be a combo of 3c and 4a.

My hair looked like your after I washed my hair from straightening it but after a few washes the curls looked tighter and smaller. But some areas were loosen than others.I know I have different types of curls in certain areas but its not suppose to have straight thin ends.
